I live in Aliante & love it! I was surprised how convenient it is to get anywhere in the valley, although my "trips" usually consist of going to the airport & back. Neighbors are very friendly, and yes, it still is "squeaky clean." Aliante Station also opened on the 11th. It's nice to have somewhere for friends & family to stay!

Ahh I thoght you had been around a while. Obviously not. There are sections of Aliante that are much nicer than some sections of GV...even though in the same price range. In fact a 200K house in Aliante will generally be nicer and in a nicer neighborhood than a similar priced home in GV.

It often takes a good bit of work to get a fit on an out of town client who is Las Vegas naive. And I have given up predicting...even when they seem certian and absolutely set in their opinion.

Had an older lady in Sun City Summerlin. Had a reasonably precise spec on the house she wanted. The Admiral on a hunch talked her into looking at a very deluxe town house of the sort she had absolutely ruled out. She bought it without looking at another home. It turns out her view of a duplex was vastly different than a real duplex.

A lady I work with lives in Aliante. She likes it, but lost a ton of value in her home. She bought at the wrong time, but there are certainly some good deals now. I think some people are hoping Aliante Station (casino) will somehow increase the value of their homes, but we'll see.

Just keep your commute in mind. If you are going to work in the Southern part of the valley, you might want to consider a different neighborhood. BUT, if you are used to SoCal commutes, it might not be so bad.

I think that there are price ranges in every area of town that are varied for anyones budget. GV or North. Some like shiny and new...others like more mature and established. Older does not mean bad...and new does not mean better or good.

Keep in mind that Vegas is a carbon copy City. What is available in the North is available in GV. Every Strip mall has what you need...and many "Big Box" retailers are everywhere.

For me...the North is too isolated and far and for me it has a "feel" that I am not comfortable with. Might be the people, the neighborhoods or ...I don't know, I just know I do not like it. Others feel right at home. Where I live, people are scared and would not set foot in to call home, but I am more comfortable with the "urban feel". For me its the diversity and the proximity.

Either way...if youre planning on moving...please do yourself a favor and keep an open mind. People are very opinionated with some very closed minded ideas about particular areas in general. You will find a place that "feels" right to you for one way or another.
SinCityModern has the right opinion...the north does feel isolated and just feels too deserted for me...and sometimes even a little too industrial, i don't want to live in between 2 warehouses, i would rather live in between 2 hi-rises and a corner market...where do you live? i am usually not scared of most areas, just the Westside...except when i drive through, its not so bad...but i wouldn't walk around there for too long...

If people are afraid of Aliante or anywhere close to it, they need their heads examined. Most people that post in here that say how terrible it is here, have never even bothered to visit here. They are going on assumptions or old info about the old crappy Northtown section. Aliante has only been in existence since the park and information center and some model homes opened in late 2003. Home's weren't even finished until early 2004 and some are still being finished in various neighborhoods.
As far as isolation, it isn't isolated anymore. Growth has passed us to the north, the west, the east, and Park Highlands is being constructed. Aliante station opened..it looks surreal since we were used to seeing an empty desert lot for so long. It's kind of nice to have it, but intrusive at the same time, since more traffic is flocking this way.

To each there own, but I have to agree I would not say North Town is better than GV by any means. Even in the newer areas you are often right across the street from "the old crappy Northtown section". The fact that you can get the same home in GV and NLV for 25% less in NLV should tell you something too. If NLV was nicer they would be charging 25% more to live there not 25% less. North Las Vegas has higher crime and more gangs that GV too. I could see that being a negative factor for people too.

Pink- please do not get the wrong idea about my opinion. I thought I was being very politically correct in my original posting. Essentially "to each their own" Your comments strengthen my point! Everyone feels comfortable where they are...and there is a place for everyone in this City! It's just not for me and vice versa....downtown probably isnt right for you.

Nonsense. GV covers a lot of ground. Much of it is well inferior to Aliante. There is no bad area across the street from Aliante. North GV is muich closer to bad areas than Aliante.

The problem is that a lot of people in Las Vegas don't get out enough. If you did you would know better. Check out Aliante Station. That will give you a view.

North GV crime is higher than Aliante.

Yes, downtown is not my thing. If i had a choice, I would live 1 mile from the nearest neighbor. Maybe in Montana somewhere, far from any casino.

See that's just it. We are nowhere near Northtown or crappy area's way up here in Aliante. Come on up to Aliante station for a drink and a little gambling and see for yourself sometime.
