My hubby is an Air Traffic Controller and we put in for a transfer to Vegas. We were trying to move back to TX, but they don't have anything available right now and he can't just transfer there--so Vegas it is for now...maybe

We don't know if we're coming yet or not, but are trying to be as prepared as possible. We started looking at apartments, then moved to searching for houses that are for rent, but decided to purchase since the mortgage would be about the same...plus there seems to be a TON of forclosures.

So, we're set on what type of housing, we're set financially for jobs...but there are somethings you just can't get online. We've lived in San Diego (and know how expensive it is) and are currently in Buffalo (hate it and know how much more expensive it is here!).

Here are my ?'s and any information is greatly appreciated.

1. What are the average utilities for a 2500 sqft home? (ie: gas, electric, water, and trash...anything I'm forgetting?)

2. Are there state taxes? (we heard no, but just to be safe)

3. Do the freeways get as backed up as the 15 in San Diego on any given day? (not that it REALLY matters)

4. Do a lot of homes have HOA?

Thanks for your help!

excuse me?! I meant Income, I guess I didn't make it clear. I did do a lot of my research online as I usually do. Lose the attitude I get enough of it living here in NY. I did look through some of the posts, but with the way everything is economically changing it's hard to rely on even anything that may be 3 months old. Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS

No, Nevada doesn't have a state income tax.

i have a 2600sf home in the northwest, granted, i am a seasonal resident (until 6/2009 when i move to vegas permanently).. so i can tell you about june - august (we were there the whole summer)... i was nervous about the electric bill (a/c set on 70 - 2 ac units - 3 floors - 4yr old house), my top bill was 256. for the month so i didnt think it was that bad... my water bill was about 60 per month for the 3 months, however i filled a 5000 gallon pool twice (walmart brand) because it developed a leak..most of the homes have an hoa, get the rules before you commit, some are just downright stupid, at my rental house in vegas, the tenant isn't allowed to park in the driveway because of the rules..

hope this helped a bit

for some reason, the turtle guy thinks he can match attitude with a Gnu Yawka,,,,,aint happenin.....

Welcome to Las Vegas....unlike SD, there are a lot of options to using I-15 so it really isnt a problem.....backed up here means 20 minute from the Spagetti Bowl to 215 on the south side....not a biggie
