That one is built. But if you can't fill them why staff them?

It is hunker down time. Grand opening next January...or the January after that...

I know this is an old thread, but I suspect the reason for the delay is the room shell may have been built but not finished on the inside. The article says the tower has been topped off and the rooms scheduled to open in the summer (about six months after the article was written). That is about right for the time it takes to lay carpet, install lights, put in bedding, etc, etc, etc.

The other advantage to waiting is styles may change from last January until when they open. Not finishing the rooms gives Caesars the opportunity to make sure they look fresh when they do open.

The tower is a empty shell inside except for the first two floors thats being used for convention and meeting space. The room construction will resume when there is a bigger demand for rooms in Vegas and funding can be aquired to finnish the tower.

Don't think so. The rooms may not be finished but all the structure is there. No other way to do it. You can hold off on the last ten percent but that is about it. I would think the bigger savings is in the staff not hired.

Sure there is structure. My reference to empty shell was not to imply that everything above the second floor was just a steel frame with outside facade covering it. The decision to not finish it at the time was all over better utilization of funds. Harrah’s has no problems shutting down and laying off staff for a whole hotel tower at any of their properties.
