Hi everyone! I'm a 24 year old male pro poker player/sportsbettor and I'm looking for advice on what neighborhood/ apt. complexes would be best and what I should expect when I move to Vegas.

I've lived in Nashville my entire life and I was hoping that someone who moved from the South who now lives in Vegas could tell me what to expect with regards to culture shock etc.

Here is a little about myself if it helps any
-laid back
-single
-hate traffic
-like the nightlife
-politically right wing/libertarian

Thanks for the help and if you need me to provide any more information, please let me know.

More info might be helpful. Have you been to Vegas before? Have you ventured off strip? What kind of games are you looking for? Big games like at the Strip places or smaller games at the local places? Have a car? I lived in Knoxville and Florida for a spell.

-laid back--Vegas is a pretty laid back town
-single--Plenty of single women come to Vegas all the time!
-hate traffic--Sorry your SOL here. Vegas has mucho traffic compared to Nashville.
-like the nightlife--There's the Strip places again.
-politically right wing/libertarian--Nevada and Vegas are "bluer" everyday..this is not Tennessee.

You will not like Vegas until you get a steady income or support. It's expensive. The casinos aren't here to give you money.

Awww, now c'mon Lex--maybe he is really good!

You should share some of your info that you gathered from here. Beyond the expensive part.

I grew up in TN (small town kinda near Knoxville) and lived in the SE most of my life. Vegas is definitely different. I think that NV in general tends to lean a little more independent/libertarian than a lot of states. Statewide, most districts voted ~2% independent/other (much higher % than most of the country).

I live "downtown" in one of the old Vegas neighborhoods. It isn't the safest part of town, but oddly, it has a friendly 1950's small town type of feel to it. but it's close to the downtown places I like to go out and I have friends who live nearby.

i haven't been to Nashville in >15 yrs, so I wouldn't know what it's like these days. Probably less country music here (Ha!)
