Nice of the soldier to make the effort, I guess.

If I saw a man wearing fatigues in front of my child's school though, the kiddo would get a day off to play video games. Especially right now in light of what has happened recently.

Let's take a lookysee at the prices in the recent fliers for the Hispanic chain stores near my house:
Avocados: 5 for 99 cents
Fuji or Red Apples: 3 lbs 99 cents
Navel Oranges: 7 lbs 99 cents
Seedless Watermelon: 5 lbs. 99 cents (which I buy for my ferret, he loves watermelon)
Limes: 4 lbs for 99 cents
Bananas: 3 lbs for $1
Seedless Red Grapes: 2 lbs for $3 (Last week 2 lbs of seedless black grapes for 99 cents)
Canteloupe: 5 lbs for 99 cents

My roommate is not working, still, and I send him to these nearby stores for the bargains. Called cherry picking!

I'm not surprised by the high prices of oranges in FL. One time I was driving thru the orange groves of the Central Valley of CA, and I miscalculated I'd be able to buy the cheapest oranges in the country there!
OMG! They were more expensive than what I would pay here in Las Vegas! Go figure!
We have plenty of Hispanic grocery stores in Orlando. Our Hispanic population percentage wise is just as high as Las Vegas and I live in a majority Hispanic neighborhood so there are lots of small Hispanic produce and meat markets within 2 miles of my home. We also have a big Miami based chain here called Sedano's which moved into all our old Albertson's locations

I simply go to Publix because it is a company I love, and I know I'm getting a good product and so many folks (regular customers and employees) know me there that I feel more "at home" shopping at Publix. I don't mind paying more if it means I can be with people I know and get much better quality and service

The key phrase in that story is self-imposed duty.

Do you always have to be so condescending? Dissenting opinions are one thing, outright disrespect is another.

By the way, it was your neighborhood where Steve Wynn's daughter was kidnapped.

Have a nice day.

C'mon, that's analogous to saying that Secret Service protection is just an illusion of safety because a couple of presidents have gotten shot. Or that penitentiaries offer only an illusion of safety from convicted criminals because some prisoners have escaped from time to time.

No security system is 100% effective. And they're not meant to be. But they do offer a measure of safety/security.

No. Sometimes I prefer sarcasm. See below.

We know it was self-imposed. The story states that clearly.
But someone in the school had to OK this I am sure. Or did they just turn a blind eye and let the guy be? Maybe they were in favor of it.
