18 years old and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs with substantial bodily harm, felony reckless driving, and felony hit and run. Yep, I would say his life is over.

Rock and roll.
Drunks will be drunks, whether a 24 hour town or not.

True, but I wasn't speaking of "drunks" per se.. I'm talking about the people that end up having a couple too many and get behind the wheel. With the lack of time awareness that happens in the casinos coupled with no "last call", I was just thinking it must be a little more sketchy on the roads than in other places where you are most likely not going to run into a drunk driver at 11:00am.

If he's 18 now, he hasn't "done prison time". There's lots of people his age out there looking like that, all of whom have never seen the inside of a prison.

He very likely will soon, though, for this incident... interesting that prior social media posts about prior hazardous driving activity may play a role in his trial.

I'm surprised his bail was only set at 20k. Two grand is pretty easy to come up with to pay the bail bondsman. Where did you read about the social media aspect? I didn't see it.

I don't know where I saw it, but he posted something along the lines that he was going 80 mph on city streets on his facebook page.

This might be the popular belief, but you seem to be referring to the Strip. Las Vegas is more than that. Also, I would think that the cops are looking out for drunk drivers much more than other less openly drinking places so the stats might show more arrests for DUI here. Not everyone looking "for action" are drinking. Highly doubt it is the top destination, just more publicized.

I understand, yet in MI many bars open at 7 am...so there are drunks at 11 am. Plus, last call isn't going to stop a drinker from continuing somewhere. Many after hour places or house parties continue on. I hope no one runs into them anywhere. You have to also remember that many people drinking in the casinos, on the Strip anyway, are not driving. They are taking cabs, walking, or some other public transportation. At any rate, ONE drunk driver in any town is too many.

Ha! Public intoxication does not even merit officer intervention in Vegas! I remember one time at Sonic, on Charleston, a drunk was playing air guitar, singing, dancing, vomiting, crying and then decide to pee on himself as an encore to the show. I called it in, no one cared. Just another day...whatever. On the strip once, I saw these gals, so wasted they couldn't walk. More public display of vomiting and peeing. Really.

Makes you never want to have more than two drinks, that is for sure.

Yep, I saw a few beauties coming out of the Day Club at the Wynn. 11 am, bikinis, wasted. Not a nice look. What a waste of a day. For the most part, I don't see too many out and about during the day, but they are there, I'm sure. I suppose the cops feel if they are not causing harm to others....?? Bigger fish to fry?
