There are some back woods places where cost of living is insanely cheap. The trade off is they're backwoods places.
Friend of mine is buying a massive plantation style house on 20 acres in Georgia for 60k. 285 a month including insurance.

I'm excited and terrified at the same time
Best of luck to you. You'll be ok, no reason to be terrified.

There are plenty of single people with no kids living off only $747 a month for ssi disability and they do ok. I live on less than that. I am sure Davie will be making at least double that at Smith's so he will be just fine.

Katie,

You've got me curious...

What sort of lifestyle are you able to live in Vegas on less than $747 a month? I'm assuming you've already have a home bought and paid for?

No, I rent a room for $350 all inclusive that is in a really nice house. My job provides me with a company car and I get health insurance for free since I am low income. Although I make $1,000 a month, I live on between $550-600 a month and put away the rest. I do not drink, do drugs or smoke so I really don't have much in the way of expenses. I have an extra $100 a week to party and live the Las Vegas lifestyle with if I wanted to.

They pay more for the car than they pay you.

My bills are 2600 a month. I don't even live fancy. Employer pays my health insurance, if not it'd be another 2,000 a month.

They gave me a 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan that is paid off. They pay for insurance, gas and all maintenance. The big difference is you have a wife and 2 kids to support while I am on my own. $2,600 in bills for a family of 4 is pretty reasonable.

I'm surprised a job that only pays $1,000 a month would provide a car.

Usually that's reserved for cushy expat packages.

Still, I'm amazed you live on that little...

Even in college, I think I was spending $400+ a month just on groceries.

I make $30 an hour, but I only work 9 hours a week. It would be a $62,000 a year job if I worked full time. Regarding food, I spend about $30 a week in the grocery store. I avoid eating out.

Do you work so little on purpose or is it their choice?

I spend about 400 a month on groceries. Pretty cheap, I think, for a family of four.

30 a week on groceries?

Do you eat, or is that just bottled water?
