Well, I will report back later how the afternoon/evening went at the Cannery car show and music festival. Leaving in a few. One thing I do know, it's hot out there, but a breeze.

Try applying with TekSystems as a contractor if you want a short term IT gig that pays more than $15 an hour.
Hmm. What do you consider crappy?

UNLV pays pretty well in comparison then. The job I interviewed for last year started at $60K.

The music festival at the Cannery was pretty good, but oh so long. 5 hours. 4-9p.m. Hate sitting for too long of a time. The best band was the Kingsmen. Less talk, more music. The Box Tops, they talked too much and wanted to do newer music. At least they did the good oldies as well.
The Happenings were pretty good and The Standells played way too long. After the concert, all the bands were signing autographs and record albums. We skipped that part.

Never did see the car show, that must have started earlier. It took over 2 hours in the line that wrapped around the casino before they let us in at 4p.m. 7 hours total there. Tiring. If I would have known it would be that long, I would have had lunch before we left like my husband did. I didn't know it would last as long as it did. Did have a late dinner at the Pizza place inside the Cannery around 10p.m. And was starving by then. They messed up our order and kept serving everyone else, and finally almost 45 minutes later we got our slices of pizza. They gave us one extra slice for waiting so long. Still, they should have made it two. We split the extra. I know where we are not eating the next time we are at the Cannery.

The weather was nice, some light breezes and some gusty breezes so it was never really hot. I would go again, but plan it better, like get there earlier, take turns in line and get a much better seat, a place I could stretch out or stand, like an end aisle. And bring a sandwich at least.

Why is this? Because they can underpay and no one will protest?

I was lucky because I work healthcare IT and had been around town for a long time, so I made pretty good money. But, there's a reason that I'm a contractor in California at the moment. $$$$$

Mac made six figures in NY and couldn't get $20 per hour in Vegas. Another one of our regular posters lives in Pheonix, even though he owns a place in Vegas and would much rather be home. He's a Unix expert.

I'm always hearing employers whine about the dearth of skilled ITS people in Vegas. Gee,I wonder why?
