Wow... just... wow, I had no idea what had been going on. I lost touch with mostly everyone on this board when one of my last former attempts of making it out to Vegas didn't go according to plan. I tried to reach out to one or two people a few years back when I was headed to the SW (unfortunately Phoenix, and not LV, but that's a story for another day); but it seems like most of the old, original crew had moved on to other pastures. I'm glad, that considering everything, you've been looking at the bright side of things. Like you said, in the end, it may all be for the best. Are there people there who can help you transition back to the community once your stint there is done?

Is it wrong that I kind of wonder what our resident troll has to say about the election? The interest rate has risen. That was his big gripe. Also, I want to see if his new nonsense is as nonsensical as the election process.

I've never been so hopeful for NV, after this current election, and am even thinking twice about relocating/retiring in Tucson, so long as State Senator Tick Segerblom sticks around! But we'll see how things go in this upcoming legislative session with a Democratic majority in the Assembly and Senate, and having a RINO for Governor.

Tina Quigley, head of RTC, is awaiting money from the Transportation Department/matching funds to get her light rail project off the ground, which will run from the Airport down Maryland to Downtown and UMC!
To get Federal funding, the project must be built for local residents only, and a rail line down the Strip doesn't qualify for the funds, as it serves tourists.

And it's nice to finally see a bike lane along Flamingo, I rode part of it the other night. Now, if you can get a bike lane along Desert Inn, that would be picture perfect!

Enjoyed the recently concluded SEMA 2016 and the Aviation Nation at Nellis Air Force Base and had tons of photos. Still have lots more to post from both but here is a preview of these two great events in town.

I only took about 100 photos at Sema because it was all pretty much the same as the last couple of years.

The first year I took 1,000 pics. The second year I took well over 1,000. Last year I only took a few hundred.

A few things I did want to photograph that were new held consistent crowds.

SEMA and Aviation Nation both are great events for locals to check out. I did not check the SEMA Ignite but have done so a few years back when it was behind the LinQ. The parade leading to the convention center Gold lot was fun. SEMA is not open to the public but during set up and during the last day of the trade show, security allow people to check the show especially the outdoor exhibits.

As far as Aviation Nation, I love this event, got to see the F-35 Lightning II aircraft on flight side by side with the Raptor F-22 and a vintage aircraft. Fun! A couple of years ago, the Thunderbirds were great but this year I did not bother. I'm glad the show went on this year, last year Nellis Air Force Base did not hold Aviation Nation.

In '06 I worked at a client site in Vegas for about two months. On Fridays, I saw a string of large planes coming into town. They just kept coming and coming. It was obviously tourists hanging out for the weekend. Is it still like that these days in the summer?

We live up on the west side of the valley and see a constant string of planes flying in and out every day.

I used to live near East Cheyenne and Pecos, and got to see them low and slow all of the time.

Now that I think of it, they were quite, if not very close to each other. That's why I used the term 'string'.
