NLVgal is correct though. And it was and is very important to the structure known as the strip. The big deal is that most of the big casinos have negotiated reasonable deals with the Culinary and those that are striving to keep the Culinary out are actually offering even better deals.

And the voting and organization capabilities of the Culinary foster legislation favorable to the strip.

Default For a little fun try the Dallas list...

Dallas TX is dealing with a heat wave. Since June 1 the heat index in Dallas has been higher than that in Las Vegas virtually every day. The temperature has been generally a little higher in LV but when you factor in the humidity Dallas has been consistently worse. Interesting to watch them try and deal with it...

Kind of neat to point out that most of the summer the torrid LV weather will actually be nicer than Dallas.

You can pick any area of the Deep South, Florida or the East Coast, and you'll find heat indices higher than Las Vegas. You can even find high heat indices in the Midwest in the summer.

Anyone know if there's any ballots on the agenda this November? Ballots can be as earth-shaking as who gets elected, witness the ballots for medical and recreational marijuana in NV recently.

Since the Physician Assisted Suicide bill was killed by the head of the Health Committee in Carson City, there was talk of putting that before the voters in NV. That would be an earth-shaker as well.

I'm 100% pro assisted suicide. Humans should have the right to do with their body anything they please.

We already have assisted suicide, very quietly at hospice. The family just has to be on board. I personally authorized the ketamine for my beloved mom, fully knowing that she would never wake up again. It sucked, but she was dying and in pain. I haven’t been the same person since.

These kinds of decisions are heartbreaking. I don’t see government in Carson helping with that. More likely just making it worse.

Our sympathies for your loss. You did the right thing. I watched my grandmother fight for every breath before going. If I'd had the option I would have used it for her. There is reason on Earth that people should have to go through hell as they are dying.

I think for people with advanced Parkinson's or Alzheimers it should be given as an option. Confort measures such as Fentanyl, Valium, or Propofol. Just my opinion. I'm sure those of you that have experienced these situations first hand know best. My sympathies.

Does anyone on this forum have any first hand experience with Parkinson's disease? My stepfather has it and it is really hard on my mother having to care for him and not being able to do the things they used to enjoy.

I apologize for the error in that post.

Having worked in a LTC Rehab facility I ran into a number of patients who weren't qualified for Physician Assisted Suicide, and wished to end it. Like the man who had a heart attack at 68 and was left with one side of his body paralyzed. He was, admittedly, a workaholic auto mechanic, and he saw no point in continuing on with life. Well, even with Physician Assisted Suicide he didn't qualify. You need to be ordained by 2-3 Dr.'s that you only have 6 months to live. People like the patient mentioned could "live on" for another 5-10-15-20 years in that condition. And what of the quadriplegics who are dependant on someone even giving them a sip of water. Again, they don't qualify.

If you have the $$ you could fly over to Dignitas in Switzerland, the most liberal suicide clinic in the world, where you need not have 6 months to live. Over there, you can merely tell them you've been depressed most of your life and wish to end it. Cost, last time I checked, because I was even considering going over there 3 years ago: $5850 and a one-way air ticket.

Use a gun and save yourself the $$! Huh! Over the 17 years I worked there there were 3 who came into the facility who had botched the operation. All it would take is a Good Samaritan, nearby, calling for an ambulance, and there you are in a LTC facility hooked up to tubes.
