I was looking for a car tonight on Ebay and I came across this ridiculous ad for a 1995 Volvo 850. What is really sad is the guy is actually serious.

"HI there and thank you very much for checking this ad out! This is a very crazy but very simple plan, I am trying to make at least ONE MILLION DOLLARS by selling the only thing in my life that has any sort of value. The car itself is a 1995 Volvo 850 with the mileage, at the time of this picture, at 191,961. Of course, by the time you get the car it will be a lot higher. And while the car itself is not worth the money, obviously, the publicity that it will grab for the person or the company involved in the purchase of the vehicle can probably be worth well over the amount of purchase! With the Super Bowl happening next week, at a price tag of $3 + million for 30 seconds, why not spend considerably less for a little more than just 30 seconds of exposure? "

Of course you are welcome here Davie. I like you and I think most people do. Constructive criticism is all that is being offered. You are openly sharing your problems here and that's the nature of what happens when you do. No-one is perfect and I'm sure we all have something in our life that we need constructive criticism for.

I rarely offer advice...I do it from the bottom of my heart, really. If you want to have success it's the plain truth...you have to invest in yourself. It's a tough market. Do you really want to be doing "this" for the rest of your life?

4 years of your life so you can have a career, or an asset. Even taking the military route is a great option. Why do you think your Dad is telling you to go to college?

I bet you money that most people telling you, you can make it without college belong to the generation where they saw that was true. Where experience used to be equivalent to a degree. It's just not true anymore. You need both and 9/10 a college degree gets you in the door so you can get experience. You have to have something in today's market, or you will be fighting for these tough to hold down jobs for the rest of your life. And that's no way to live. I despise the Las Vegas mentality that reels people in and they think they will win the "job lottery" here. It's a gamble. Sure some win...but most don't. Even if you "do" get a job at a casino you are subject to lay-offs when they are not doing well. And then you are back to square one. A degree/skill gives you another layer to offer in other fields.

Gotta love Pepsi I think I may be bipolar because of my mood swings
Sadly there are no free counseling services in this town except Christian counseling which isn't bad but I feel Christian counselors only inject guilt and all kinds of religious dogma into the sessions, which i feel doesn't help

I have battled both clinical depression and bipolar disorder on and off at various times since age 10. I had also attended counseling on and off since age 12. The first time I went to counseling was mandated by the state of Connecticut in 2002 for reasons id rather npt discuss. I had attended the counseling as ordered to no avail, whatever mental illness is plaguing me, seems incurable so I have given up on counseling as well

This is what I have. Read this as you have to have 5 of the 9 traits to have it:

1. frantic efforts to avoid real or imagined abandonment. Note: Do not include suicidal or self-mutilating behavior covered in Criterion 5.
2. a pattern of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships characterized by alternating between extremes of idealization and devaluation.
3. identity disturbance: markedly and persistently unstable self-image or sense of self.
4. impulsivity in at least two areas that are potentially self-damaging (e.g., spending, sex, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating). Note: Do not include suicidal or self-mutilating behavior covered in Criterion 5.
5. recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures, or threats, or self-mutilating behavior
6. affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability, or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and only rarely more than a few days).
7. chronic feelings of emptiness
8. inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights)
9. transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms

I gave up on anti-depression meds in 10th grade, and counseling as well, and have found hope and faith in Bhuddism, which is not a religion, it's Eastern philosophy.

I've also gained a great deal from Astrology. Yeah! I have one of those negative, dark, moody moon signs and I suspect you have one as does LVD. Everything taken too seriously, intensely, good hearty laughs never come easy or not at all. emotionally unstable I am and probably always will be. Hey! You just learn to live with it, make the best of it!

You do know, if you were in a room with any number of driven, workaholic Wall Street types, it wouldn't take but a minute or two, listening/watching, to realize you'd be the sanest person in the room, and scratch your head for years after wondering why many of these mentally ill people are not forced into counseling.

There's pure insanity everywhere you look in this world, and just reading the paper in the morning will convince you of that.

Thanks, Davie. Yesterday was...interesting. Part sleepy/tired (helped 25 year old friend here with his grand mal seizures), part angry (bus). A weird day, but I'll push through the rest of this week.

Or you can get an older, nice Mercedes-Benz sedan (gold colored) on East Charleston, on the SW side, a little before LVBS for $1,295.

Happy Birthday, MomMom!!!

There is an employment opportunity that might be worth consideration---shipping and receiving warehouse work for beverage, liquor distributors, and institutional food suppliers. I do not know which companies operate in LV, but guessing Pepsi/Coke; beer companies; liquor distributers; Sysco and US Foods are a couple national institution food distributors. All areas of the country have regional food suppliers, as well.

For the warehouse, you will need to know how to operate a pallet jack, fork lift. Some places will train. Order selection, which is generally the entry level job, tends to be evening/night shift work. Order selectors do tend to be young guys in their twenties.

Pay is decent. While not immune to layoff scenarios, not as susceptible as say, the casinos. People still gotta eat and drink. Schools and health care providers buy groceries, even when restaurant business is down. If you are smart and have a decent work ethic, promotion opportunities will come your way---managerial, desk type jobs that aren't as physically taxing.

Might be worth checking out.

I wouldn't admit that you drink prune juice and then post if I were you.
People might draw conclusions about the content of your posts.

I usually just lurk on this site, but I wanted to break my silence and say that this is some of the best advice you will get Davie. My situation isnt much different from yours (with the exception of having 4 kids) so I know how you are struggling - my humble advice - listen to lyra33. I sincerely wish you the best of luck. Now - back to lurking
