I am literally going crazy in that terrible place being woken up all the time because of my neighbor upstairs. Now that it has warmed up outside it is full of roaches again. I woke up with roaches crawling on me. This is no way to live. I am stuck in this place because of my low paying job. I am ashamed to say I did not even clear $20,000 last year. I have not had a raise since I started and prices for everything is going up on top of that. I am either going to start looking for a second part time job OR try to get a better job altogether. I have not decided yet. I will admit I did not think Davie would be able to get a job on the strip but he proved me wrong. I am really proud of him for not giving up on his dream despite multiple setbacks. It is now my turn.

Make it happen man. It seriously doesn't matter who you are or what has happened in the past. Take this day as the day you will change things around. You have to know exactly what you want. Most people don't have a clue what they really want and wonder why they aren't motivated. Figure out what you want and go get it. If it's a security job in a casino, spend at least 50% of your time moving towards that goal. Once you want something better more than you want to be complacent you have climbed halfway up the hill. There will always be obstacles but it's just a matter of taking 2 steps to the side and moving past anything in your way. Good luck LVD!

Thanks for the support, but unfortunately what I did in the past has permanently wrecked my life and there is no hope. I have come to my senses since making my the post you quoted. I am not going to say what I did, but I will admit I was charged with a class 4 felony back in 1995. It almost prevented me from getting my current job as a private security guard. I did not divulge it on my application but nonetheless they found it. The only reason they allowed it was because I took a plea deal that dropped it down to a misdemeanor. After reading what Airics said to Davie about having to have no criminal record and good credit I knew I have no chance since I have have both a criminal record and I have terrible credit (recently too regarding credit). The only thing I can do is get a small part time minimum wage job.

If it is dropped to a misdemeanor, then why should the felony matter? Can they still hold that against you? Didn't it get expunged? If you move up the ladder bit by bit, baby steps....never know. I would think the drinking thing would be your biggest detriment to moving up.

I guess I will I have to say what it was for it to make sense. It was a burglary charge. No casino is going to hire me with that on my record. I plead guilty to misdemeanor theft and was told if I committed no crimes for 1 year it would be expunged. I did not have commit any crimes for a year but it still comes up on background checks. I have called the city of Glendale multiple times and they tell me that they have no record of it and that it had to be expunged. I gave up on it. Regardless, even if it did not show up I still have the bad credit going against me. I hope no one on city data will hold the burglary charge against me since it was 16 years ago and I am a changed man who learned his lesson. If fact, I never committed another crime again with the exception of traffic offenses.

I would not stop trying just based on credit. Just depends on how much you want to put into it. You should not keep giving up. What do you have to lose? You are already in a situation you hate. So, why not just keep throwing some apps out there? It is all done online now, isn't it?

Right now I'm questioning if I really got hired or not at the cosmopolitan, they gave me my id badge to clock in n out, I got my tam card, did all my on boarding paperwork, and was even given where employees park, only to find out that they.want to "call next week" to start my training eventhough I was given an anticipated start date which was supposed to be tomorow. Every time ive applied for a job and was told id be called, I never got hired but the Cosmopolitan gave me an official badge and everything, so I am unsure if I really was hired or not

Don't mention your conviction on your application. You won't get the job if you do mention it and they may not check thoroughly enough if you don't mention it.

It wont matter since you have to be gaming registerd to work security in a casino. Its a matter that LVD would have to apeal with the GCB.

HR does not do onboarding and give out badges just for fun. Relax you got the job. Your going to be dealing with a larger managment structure than your use to. Things like scheduling and training takes time. Do your best and learn to keep your options open and be willing to try different jobs.

you're dealing with a seasonal/on call position.. if you got a badge you are in unless something came up with your background check etc... but it usually takes a bit of time for the results.... just be patient....
