My sympathy goes out to you, Davie. I'm glad you went back to FL one last time to make peace.

Davie, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My dad died when I was 22 and it changed me. I hope your memories will lift you and carry you until you meet again. Good thing you did not hesitate to be with him when you had the chance.

Not so sure now.
I know, it kind of changes my perspective on helicopter rides too.

This incident makes me want to call and haggle for a ride this week. Never a better time to negotiate the price.

I am glad Davie got to do it too. I personally did not. The last time I talked to my mom was on the phone on Thanksgiving in 2005. Her cancer had gotten worse and I insisted that I fly up to Texas immediately. She told me to wait 2 weeks. My aunt was staying with her for that time. She died 4 days later. I never got to say goodbye.

Davie, I may be new to the forum, but I wanted to send my condolences as well. The passing of a parent (or anyone, really) is never easy and IS life-changing...the way one handles it speaks to his/her character, and by the sound of it, you've certainly got your head on straight, especially with what you've been through lately. You're stronger than you may know--I can tell a lot of us watching you know this ...be glad you got the opportunity to spend time with your dad and you both are at peace with your lives. It may sound cliche, but keep your chin up--you've got a lot of support here.
