Just in case some of you don't know this, the new Winco stores opening soon in Las Vegas and Henderson do not take credit cards. Cash, debit and checks are fine.

I discovered this for myself on my first trip to a Winco in Salt Lake. I couldn't remember my PIN, so me and my Visa check card didn't get groceries that day.

They feel like a larger scale Associated Foods type store with polished concrete floors similar to Walmart. I'm not a fan, but I appreciate having choices.

There's something to be commended for living somewhere with concrete walls between the units, fire safety for one.

I live in a townhouse complex with cinder blocks walls between the units, and one caught fire a few years ago, and only the unit burned up, never fled to neighboring units.

Concrete walls don't blot out all noise, but, IMO, it's far better than plasterboard!

In Latin America/Mexico it's concrete all the way, not just walls, ceilings/roofs and all!

The 99c stores do in fact take credit cards, although the don't take AmEx. And Davie, I don't know what EBT stands for, but they do take that as well (whatever it is). Just check the lower left-hand corner of their weekly ad.

Winco's reasoning for them not taking credit cards is the high fee's the credit card companies charge. That is how they have low prices all the time. Of course, I have yet to go into one to see just how low they are.

Man suffers heart attack at Heart Attack Grill - FOX5 Vegas - KVVU

Quote:
A man suffered a heart attack at a restaurant known for glorifying bad eating habits. The 'Heart Attack Grill' lived up to its name Saturday night.
Was this to be expected?

It wasn't just the Heart Attack Grill that caused the heart attack. He had obviously been a ticking time bomb for quite awhile. He had so much plaque build up from many many meals like that. He could have eaten anywhere and experienced the same outcome. He just happened to eat there.

Yep they are not perfect at blocking noise, but they are a huge improvement over my last place. The ceilings are also concrete at my place.
