How is this city going broke?
Articles I have read say that the number of visitors is up, but the amount of money they are spending gambling is down.

MOST hotels are at 100% EACH and EVERY weekend, at rates far higher then they have received in years.....weekdays tend to be down....somewhere around 84-95%....leaving us with a 90% occupancy rate [on average[ for the month.
The whole United States is on a path to financial ruin. The economy is run on near zero percent interest rates. That is bad. Debt WILL destroy the United States, and there is zero doubt it will take Las Vegas down with it. I can look at long term trends, and tune out short term ones. What you see happening Europe will happen here. It might be very soon, or it might take a few years. You see, I can see the forest for the trees, unlike most people on this forum.

exactly right darlin......we're havin to work harder to seperate the sucker from their money.....but the bottom line is there.....

Things are not as agressive as they were in past years.....there was a boom in the casino industry as well as housing....but we're adjusting to it....MOST existing hotels are using this time to upgrade their properties....especially downtown.....

But, but the economy is getting better. Believe it if you will, but when most people were out partying on new years eve, Obama signed a bill that says Americans can be arrested, taken away, and indefinitely detained with no judge, no jury. I can look at that, and then look at why is homeland security buying 450 million rounds and see what is coming. The economy here will crash, and the government is preparing for it.

On another note, I highly respect Peter Schiff. I have watched his old videos from 206-2007 where he was mocked by everyone with his predictions. He would be one of six people on debating on CNBC, and ALL of them mocked him and told him how wrong he was. Guess who was right. The same goes here with me. Most people on this forum do the same to me, but I am not going to back down.

I suggest you read the free introduction to his new book set to be released in a couple weeks.

"I guess you were right about the crash, Peter." It pains me to tell them that what they saw in 2008 and 2009 wasn't the crash. That was a tremor before the earthquake. The real crash is still coming."

It certainly is true. All this recent so called prosperity has been brought on by extreme amounts of debt and money printing. This will not end well.

I do not buy into that Mayan b.s. Although doubtful, 2012 could be the end of the world, but I certainly am not one of those crazy people who this that 12-21-2012 is the end.

The Blaze is the news page of Glenn Beck. Anyone would be afraid the end was near after listening to him! (I did listen to him for years) He's been talking about the "end of days" since 9/11, telling people to buy an emergency food kit, duct tape for their windows, and have a bomb shelter for what lies ahead. He has been claiming that he is right for years, but his predictions of doom and gloom never seem to pan out (thankfully).

He's a smart guy, but IMO what he says needs to taken with a grain of salt. I had to stop listening to him because he was making me paranoid and bitter.
