This seems to be a common thing, no matter where in the country. The cable company that we had here in NYC before switching was notorious for missing appointment times, horrible service, and even worse customer service. When we finally cancelled, we had to go to one of their "centers" to return the equipment, which of course meant a 3 hour wait in a cattle line. Even better was when they claimed they never received it and tried to charge me in excess of $800 for the equipment!!! IMO, Verizon FiOS is the best, but as I found out, is not available in LV as of yet.

I try to find a human at their company and none exist. I just want the guy to move along and maybe actually do his job he is being paid for. It must be nice to be parked in a neighborhood for hours every day, doing nothing and getting a weekly pay check.

In the paper today: Voters in North Las Vegas have long known Collins was a drinker. When he was running for the Assembly in 1992 he had had a DUI arrest and 2 battery convictions on his record, and he was still elected repeatedly.

He shot a tree at his North Las Vegas home on 7/3/12 and police said: "alcohol was involved". Collins pleaded no contest to disturbing the peace. Voters returned him to the County Commission in November.

And? He could have missed shooting the tree, and a had a bullet fly through someone's house!

I emailed this Jerk, during the debate over the More Cops tax issue, who stubbornly persisted in increasing the sales tax for more cops. Vested self-interests?

"Hey guys! I know I've been drinking and driving, but I did get the commission to raise the sales tax to hire more police officers, so give me a break!"

Woke up this morning to a cul-de-sac filled with Police and Paramedics. Than the doorbell and a lady cop wanting to know if we had heard anything that morning like a gun shot.

Turns out a lovely neighbor took herself out. She had been fighting depression for some years do to a medical condition that screwed up her balance. Complete shock though. She has shown no signs of self destruction or getting worse.

A beautiful women. Was the senior cocktail waitress in a secondary strip casino. Stayed with it until past 50 and still looked great. Both she and her husband happily retired and doing fine. Then...

Yeah, depression is awful. I'm sorry for your loss.

That is sad to hear. I guess it's hard for folks who don't suffer from things like depression to understand. This poor lady had obviously just come to the end of her rope.

We had a case a few days ago here. A lady living in a very affluent area of England. She had three children who suffered with spinal muscular atrophy. When her husband was away, she killed all three children. Just a tragic case.

Tania Clarence charged with murdering her 3 disabled children in New Malden | Mail Online

All her neighbours and friends said she seemed to cope so well, and were shocked at this sad event.

Having worked in nursing homes for many years, I've seen it: heroic paramedics rush to save a suicide victim. One man I attended to, years ago, was "saved", at the last minute, by one of these heroic paramedics, and? At 49, he was left in a vegetable state, hooked up to tubes, brain dead, staring up at the ceiling everyday! And to think one could keep someone like this alive for years and years!
The poor spouse, who comes to visit this man!

About 2 years ago, a man shot himself 2X (yes!), spent a whole year in the hospital, their trying to piece him back together, which they accomplished. Man was transferred to the facility I worked in, he got to the point where he could wheel himself around in a wheelchair. First time, out of the building, we caught him hurrying down the driveway to the street, caught him just in time! Yup! He was going to go to the curb, along a busy street, and roll right into traffic and kill himself!

This poor man had been obviously suffering from depression for years. You look at the photo's by his bedside, with his family/friends, not a hint of a smile!

In some ways, it was probably best the paramedics didn't "save" this person, play hero, and the spouse visiting a "vegetable" for years to come!

That's awful. I'm sorry to hear it.

I wonder what kind of balance was out.

Only the person living a life is qualified to decide if it is worth continued living.
The more capable and independent a person is the harder it is for them to face a future of being an invalid.
We all die eventually. Some want their dignity intact to the end.
