Yes the SFV can get 100+ in the summer. Generally Hollywood and the L.A. area run 10-15 degrees cooler, even cooler the closer you get to the beach.

I used to visit the beaches all the time living in Southern California. My family would go for the day, and by evening, we would all be collecting seashells, packing up the stuff with either a great tan or a painful sunburn to take home with us.
Someday, in my fantasy world I would love to live in Carmel/Monterey area in Central California on the beach. That place is heaven. I lived in the area for about 6 months when I was just out of high school.

Welcome back! Although I'm sure it feels like Hades compared to Malibu.

The good thing is we all know humidity doesn't last long here. I actually enjoy when we get a little because I don't have to put as much lotion on!

Last year was a dry year for Las Vegas, we only rec'd, I believe, 1.60 inches of rain in 2009. We've already had 3.25 inches this year, almost doubling 2009's total.

1.25 inches left to go to come to our average.

And I've instructed Mother Nature to deliver that remaining amount while I'm on vacation this Fall.

We all know the dangers to our lives when it rains here in the summer, particularly during weekday hours.

Back in the 80's I got a rude introduction to Las Vegas, as I drove into Las Vegas after a rainstorm. Exiting I-15, my car spun out of control on a slippery exit ramp, car slid down the shoulder, bent the rim of my rental car, got a ticket for driving too fast for conditions, which I paid at the courthouse before leaving town.

The Highway Patrol officer told me: It's very dangerous to be on the roads around Las Vegas during/after a rain. He went on to tell me of the rash of accidents that recently happened all over the Valley.

I've driven on icey roads in Minnesota, but these rain-slicked roads here
are just as difficult to maneuver around in, particularly if it's been months in between rain, with all that oil build-up.

The roads can be dangerous. Unfortunately I think the problems rest more with people not being cautious, or maybe not being aware that you have to be really careful. Anyway...I'm still hoping for rain.

I saw Inception on Friday, it was really good!

You are so correct Pink. Just got back from Anaheim after going to see Angels-Rangers last night, we got to the hotel at 3 pm and it was a perfect 76. Naturally having to deal with all the high temps here, we were "underdressed" for the game last night as the temps dropped to 67 by the time the rally monkey appeared so both kids are starting to shiver and mom had to go buy them a long sleeve shirt.

Perfect 75 this morning then dreading watching the temps creep up as we passed through Cajon Pass
