My husband and I have watched quite a few city council meetings...it's funny how you get sucked into watching forever...and then you look at the time and go, "Ah!!!" Did I really just spend that much time watching this? LOL! But yeah, I completely agree about Goodman...very down to business and was very with it.

I have been following him for about two years in the news since I read about the history of Las Vegas and his part in it. I was facinated by the transition from MOB defense attorney to public servant. No matter what he has done, he has always explained himself and invoked some kind of logic and has always demonstrated a fierce loyalty to his constituency. And not just the rich ones.

Bloomberg is a thinly disguised crook and incopetent who is merely a shill for his Wall Street cronies. He has almost single handedly wiped out the middle class in NYC and all but destroyed the schools. BTW, yes he BOUGHT a third term.
Fixed that for you.

Thanks! Actually, that's what I meant to say. Read an excellent book, "The Battle for Las Vegas:The Law vs. The Mob" in which I first learned of Goodman's background.
He certainly had some interesting clients!!!!

Well, imo, that just makes him more qualified to be our representative!

Let's see! Fanatical anti-smoker Bloomberg becomes Mayor of Las Vegas. He's banned smoking in Times Square, Central park, pedestrian plazas, the Coney Island beaches, and once here, no smoking in the casino's, Freemont Street, the Strip, Sunset Park, casino plazas. Great idea!

And then where will the smokers take their vacations?

As for Bloomberg's quest to make NYC the quietest big city in the U.S., now there's where I could see some benefits: $350 fine for honking your horn in residential areas, no loud-thumping boom cars, police sirens silenced, a crew that goes around with decimeters to make sure your A/C unit isn't emitting too many decibels of noise.

And more and more bicycle paths!

That mayor sounds like a communist. Keep him in New York.

Give it a year. They'll let you bring your pet gator in if you put a couple bucks in a slot machine.
