Hello! First post here.

I am in need of some meeting space with desks or tables for about 20 people on a monthly basis. It is for a nonprofit, so a fancy hotel meeting room or conference space wouldn't be feasible. Does anyone know of organizations that donate space or have it available for a very reasonable price?

Check with the local libraries, they all have meeting space available for rent.

Thanks Aqualung8705! I've thought of that, and plan to check it out. However, the space will be for a rambunctious group of young women, so it may have to be somewhere that silence is not required (going to and from the meeting room they are bound to be loud and crazy). It should also be a place where we can have refreshments, and I know in meetings I go to every month at the Flamingo and Md Pkwy library, they don't allow refreshments.

Aqua...no more suggestions. It sounds like a man-haters club!

Just Aqua is fine, Daisy. You might try one of the Station Casinos.

JFK: Hmmm...we could always have Lex serve them. Heh heh, fresh meat!

RPEN meets at the American Legion Bar downtown on Veterans' Memorial Dr, just off Bonanza near 4th St. Or you might try the Marine Corps League (bar) at 4360 Spring Mountain Rd. I don't know if the Italian American Club is still there, but they used to be on Sahara somewhere near the DMV. A lot of small restaurants, like Marie Callender's or Original Pancake House, have a room available but expect you to buy food.

Hey Buzz, those are great suggestions! And they also have jogged my memory of other possible venues.

Thanks, Aqua- the Station Casinos are great! We held a conference at the Palace station 3 years ago . I think they will be a bit pricey for our monthly events, though. I am hoping to secure something reeeaally inexpensive. Casinos always expect you to get your event catered by them, which runs up the $$.

JFK- lol! You couldn't be more wrong, my dear. They're strippers.

Thanks again, all!

In that case, you can meet at my house...no charge...and I'll provide all the food.

DesertDaisy, you might check with a Masonic Lodge - they will sometimes rent out their banquet/eating space on the cheap, or free for some organizations.
