If you really want to believe that Las Vegas is the "ghost town" so many are trying to portray it as...the answer lies at the end of that article...

Will Las Vegas eventually suffer the same fate?

"I don't think Vegas is overbuilt," says Hallier. "Despite what everybody says, Vegas still has 2 million people."

Yes, but doesn't that just say that Las Vegas is a bigger balloon, but still showing signs of leaking air? A smaller city may be holding steady, or even increasing, thus making their balloon looking fully inflated, albiet smaller in size?

Balloons can be different sizes, but all still have their own maximum inflation volume. When the balloon (no matter the size) starts to deflate, it start to get wrinkly and stretch marks become visible.

Detroit is abandoned, empty and barren. Trust me, I have been to very desolate parts of Detroit. When whole city block are abandoned, that is empty. Giant empty sky scrapers.

Vegas is only overbuilt if we run out of water, or 50% of the population disappears.

Now do we have too many hotel rooms? Thats another discussion for another thread....

Listen, I'm here and I live here. I don't see no ghost town or leaking balloon.

The stores, restaurants, roads, EVERYTHING... is just as crowded now as it ever was.

I'm not talking about the tourist areas, I'm talking about where we LIVE. Our neighborhoods and such.

Ain't no one going to tell me we are a ghost town, and whether people want to believe Las Vegas is a "leaking" balloon or not. If so many people are saying that EVERYONE is leaving town, where the heck did all these people come from and why are they still living here?

I too do not see a ghost town. Things may have slowed down but ghost town no way!

People are still coming to Vegas, over the past few months I have seen a few people move from Michigan to Vegas.

By the way, I ain't afraid of no ghosts.

Although I don't see Vegas as a ghost town, I will agree that there are alot of abandoned homes. In my search for a house, I have seen plenty and there are areas that have large pockets. It is sad, but I do think that will pick up as other cities continue to slide (such as Detroit). I wonder where those people may have had to go. Into rentals? But, I still see MANY occupied homes and many people on the roads so...no ghost town yet anyway!

My husband's company is going strong out there and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it stays that way. They just picked up the VA hospital contract and that will run for two years. So, here's to hoping!!!!

Do we really WANT a next wave dyni? Like we just we had?

I wouldn't mind if the population increase were slower paced and more controlled next time, but jeez, we have an overcrowding problem as it is now in the valley...
