actually some don't, at least last time we checked...the Flamingo doesn't, Sahara doesn't, Riviera doesn't, Tropicana mostly doesn't, Monte Carlo is hit or miss, i believe Hooters only has an age requirement to get into the pool, mainly older hotels, but all of the above still have nice pool areas...some pools will charge you as a local...

last time i checked, Caesars didn't swipe it...

i believe Flamingo only requires a card if you need a towel, bring your own towel and you're fine...the other older pools are still nice, it just won't have as much as a younger clientele as the other pools that require the keys...but the upside is that sometimes they are emptier so you don't have to deal with jerks or not being able to find a chair...

You need to show a card to get into The Flamingo, The MGM and The Palazzo/The Venetian. I know because I stayed there last year.

I think the person above maybe correct about Caesars - I certainly didn't need to show a card last year.

Unless you're a member of the Polar Bear Club, isn't it a wee bit cold to be swimming this time of year?

The Trop has one of the nicest pools in town. Likewise the Flamingo. I know people who used to park in the covered parking at the Flamingo and go in the side entrance to the pool and nobody said anything. I'm pretty sure they don't check at the Rio either unless you want a towel or something. Most hotels make you show your room key or something. I'd like to go to the Tank at the Golden Nugget sometime.

If memory serves one of the downtown hotel's pool has a slide that goes thru a shark tank, and has glass so that you can see the sharks swimming around as you pass by them.

That's the Golden Nugget.

As regards The Flamingo - it's a beautiful area. But I stayed there the past two years, and I was challenged for a room key every time. And refused entry, meaning I had to go and get it from my room.

Hmmmm....do you use your neighbors pool when they're not looking? I would think that the pools should only be used for guests that are staying there unless they're having some kind of pool party.
