I'm investigating whether to buy a a DIY Kit that goes for around $6K.

I think this is totally worth it and ROI can be as short as 4 years.

Is there a minimum Nevada Energy changes for "instrastructure" that net metering will not further lower your bill?

The house I want to buy has no gas. Everything will be complete electric.

So, I have an 1800 sq ft house. I have a power hungry computer, the wife has a pc, and I have kids. My light bill is averaging 47 a month. I have gas water heater, gas heater, and gas stove. My gas bill is about 50 a month. So, 100~ a month for both in the dead of winter. (I kept it toasty in here)
I never want electric heaters again.

You can cut your electric bill in half with a Mac.

Hehehehe.

The additional cost of buying the mac, with much less performance, would be far more than I'd save on the electric bill.
You'd have to spend 5 grand on a mac to get it close to my pc.

Let's make this into Mac vs PC thread! Hehe.

One thing though, you cannot beat the price of a 5K Retina Display IMac!!!

Buying the 5K iMac, you get the computer for free!!

Would you install it or would you hire someone?

My understanding is net metering is only allowed when a licensed contractor installs every single component of the system.

I'd be very interested to know if this is not in fact the case.

I will install all the panels and wiring myself up until the hookup to the meter. Then I will "hire" someone professional needs be to connect to the meter.

The DIY Kit comes with step by step instructions.

The point is not necessary have a $zero bill. Which is not possible due to regulations? Because everyone has to pay for infrastructure. That's the argument.

The point here to to limit the $bill due to all electric home.

I am thinking maybe going with a small photo array around $3000 to begin with and slowly add panels.

If I have 10 panels and it gives me a $30/month bill, I'm fine with never adding more panels.
