Hi, I'm brining my mom to Las Vegas, just to see the place, have a look around and do some shopping. She is 84 so I doubt we'll be hitting up the strip or any casinos but you never know. We only have two nights there due to the rest of our schedule.
I am going to check it out to see if it's a place I might consider living at some point.
Can anyone recommend a nice, safe hotel with good value for us to stay at? What parts would you aim to stay in, and away from?
Is there a walkable area? Is there a good shopping area? Any suggestions on what we should do and see? Any good restaurants (I'm gluten free)?

What do you consider a good value? Do you have a price range in mind? Will you have a car and are willing to drive to various locations or do you want to be able to walk or take cabs everywhere? Are you there for the weekend or midweek?

Thanks so much for asking for clarification I am driving there from AZ and am willing to drive around once there - I think that will give me the best feel for the place.
For price I'm thinking the $100 - $140 range. We will probably be there from Wednesday thru Friday.
