We'll need to pick up a few things for our trip through the Southwest, which we're starting from Las Vegas, and we're not familiar with your stores there. What's a good store for outdoor/camping gear - with good prices. We don't need anything too fancy or high-tech. Would even a Walmart or similar shop be good enough for this? Or are there any good outdoor gear discount outlets you know of?

Thanks in advance, for any suggestions.

Can't get any bigger than the Bass Pro Shop at the Silverton Hotel and Casino. Las Vegas Nevada Sporting Goods Store - Las Vegas Fly Fishing Gear - Bass Pro Shops

Whoa! Thanks. Lots. What an amazing place. Like some sort of Disneyland of outdoor gear store! Even if we weren't needing to buy anything, we'd go there anyway, just to gawk.

Your country is so amazing for such things.

Except that I know once my hubby gets in that place, we'll be coming out with a lot more gear than planned Which is okay too.

You can also try Dick's Sporting Goods and/or Sport Chalet.

There is also an REI in Boca Park that just opened. I think there is another in Henderson.

As much as I like to shop at REI and Bass Pro Shops, and even at Dicks Sporting Goods at the Galeria Mall, they can be very expensive. So if you're looking for a place that has it all for less as the commercials say, I'd look at Big 5. There are several locations around town if they haven't all gone out of business in this poor economy. Home Page

Yes there is an REI at The District at GV Ranch. But the one at Boca Park is much larger. I like it better but it takes away my excuse for driving way out there to The District which is a destination in itself.

Big 5 is still around? Wow. I thought they collapsed years ago.

Thank you all, for all your helpfulness and suggestions. We'll look for the ones closest to where we'll be staying in Vegas and do some shopping around.
