Don't think you need a city permit for a backyard shed, but if you have a HOA I bet you will need their approval.

It might also depend on how elaborate it is. If you're putting in electricity, etc, then you probably do. If you're just putting up a metal shed from Home Depot or something of the sort, then no. If it shows over the wall you might get the neighbors PO'd at you, but most of the time nobody cares unless you have an HOA.

I live in Las Vegas, and I called the building permit people about putting a shed up in the backyard. They told me there was a square foot limit (sorry but I don't remember how much it was), but that my 8x10 shed would be okay without a permit.

Call the Henderson dept that issues permits. Generally you do not need one for anything that is temporary...can be easily removed. And for some things a permit is easily available.

As someone said earlier beware the HOA. They are often far tougher than the municipality.

Some of the HOA's allow them but don't want them showing either above your wall (they have height limits) or being visible through your side gate at street level.

As others have stated, after you call the City of Henderson, if you have a HOA, that's your next call.
