I am referring to craps, roulette or blackjack, not poker.

yes, there are many dealers working in Las Vegas. They are guaranteed winners on that side of the tables.

I don't think its possible, as everything is rigged percantage-wise for the HOUSE.

My take on such games, is you really have to be on a lucky streak and get out when you are ahead. To be able to live off of lucky streaks would be real hard to do.

POKER on the other hand, you can 'outplay' opponents, at least with No Limit. If you just play 'limit holdem', then you might get on your lucky streaks, but you won't be able to outplay anyone, and even if you do, the casino's rake of each pot will take away any earnings you might make anyways.

Yes, even an expert card counter in blackjack would be very difficult to earn a living without busting multiple times. Even so, you only get a very small edge and would need a huge bankroll to avoid "gambler's ruin" trying to realize that edge.

I believe the original MIT blackjack team actually lost about everything they won. It worked for a while, but then they hit the cold streak and "gambler's ruin". However, supposedly several team members formed a new team and I think they had some success.

That is the reason I only put beatable table games. Craps is beatable with controlled shooting. Roulette is beatable with clocking the wheel and using dealer signature to get an advantage. Blackjack of course is beatable with card counting.

OK, how do you expect to spend the hours clocking a wheel and and identifying a dealer signature? You and your notepad will stick out like a sore thumb.

I already discussed card counting. Possible, but extremely difficult even if you are an absolute expert.

Controlled shooting? Sounds like something casinos would put out to encourage people, much like they'd hardly discourage people to sit down at the BJ table and try card counting. Between all the chips on the table and everything else and the diamondplate wall you have to hit with the dice, I'd say it's probably impossible to get an edge rolling the dice.

In all those cases, gambler's ruin dominates.

Make a living at Black Jack, No.

Supplement my income, defiantly.

I average an extra $100 - $300 a week in cash, plus free dinners and cigarettes. You have to have a HUGE bankroll and be able to stand crushing losses at time.

The locals casinos don't really comp you unless you regularly play $25 + hands at a time (I mean comps besides free dinners) and the Strip the host don't even want to look at you if you are a local and your average bet is less than $100. I have been doing this for a year now and I am just getting to the point were I am starting to get some free show tickets and stuff.

As for the bankroll, look at it this way. Units, not money. If i play for 4 hours, and in the end come out 40 units ahead, thats a pretty decent night. Now, if the unit is a $5 chip and i was averaging 2 units per play. Thats $200. Decent, but trust me, its hard to come out 40 units ahead. Now if each Unit was $25, now you have made a $1000. Much better. But I was still averaging 2 units per play, or $50 at a time. If each unit was $100, I would have made $4000, but my average bet would have been $200. See where I am going here? Its very easy to lose 6 or 7 hands in a row in blackjack. At a $10 average bet that a $70 loss, not a big deal. At a $50 average bet, now you just dropped $350, a $200 average bet you lost $1400 in about 8 minutes.

Most successful nights I would say I average about clearing 20 units. Thats 20 units in profit. Average. Per Night.

Losing nights, yikes. Cause its much quicker to lose it than it is to win it back.

Id say the best thing about being a regular player is never having to buy food on the strip, and free concert tickets at House of Blues. And getting my parents comped in at GVR for 3 nights.

Wynn also said tonight that of all the gamblers he ever knew, he never saw one go away a winner. They always lose it back even if they hit a lucky streak.

Let's put it this way: Only a complete fool would think he could do what you're asking.

If you like to play for entertainment, and spend a few hours gambling, then have at it, just don't expect you could actually win consistently, and make a living at the tables, unless it's your table.
