The Coast Casinos properties do the same thing. I stayed at the Orleans about six months ago, before I moved here, and they tacked on a mandatory fee - I believe it was $10 - for Internet access. I don't think a newspaper was part of the deal.

And for that--you get 15 mins. It is an absurd, deceptive pricing ploy. They will have their due, as they beg for customers this Summer.

Welcome to new generational pricing.

A large percentage of travellers today are young. They require in-room internet to get their news and to locate restaurants etc. They would have no idea what to do with the newspaper or how to use the yellow pages. Ok, it was a joke.

Still, I'd have to go back a few years to recall a $30 room rate.

Except for having to drive through H. Reid's hometown; Laughlin is great (avoid biker weekend).

With some many people with Iphones and Blackberry's, why even need internet when you can sync your laptop via bluetooth to your phone and use that. Even better is a cellular 3g wireless card. I dont trust the security of those hotel networks anyways, who knows, someone may have a key logger and steal your passwords and stuff

iPhones can not be tethered, therefore they cannot be used to sync with the computer as a means to get internet

iPhones however do have Safari and Google Maps and can get online...
