Well, for starters, neither is a city. They're both in Las Vegas.

Picking between these could depend on where you work. Southern Highlands has better access to I-15 and the east side, and if you work east of the interstate or travel there often, the commute from Mountain's Edge along Blue Diamond could be a pain.

Still, I prefer Mountain's Edge. It has been hit hard by foreclosures, so you might be able to find some tremendous buying deals there.

My wife and I live in Southern Highlands, and her sister lives in Mountains Edge. I prefer Southern Highlands. The access to I-15 is easier. Just grab it at either Silverado Ranch or Blue Diamond. If you live in Mountain's Edge you will have a longer commute down Blue Diamond, or have to grab 215 from Rainbow,Buffalo, or Durango. I think its less of a pain to get to shopping also. For Southern Highlands you're close to the Target shopping center at blue Diamond/Dean Martin, the Albertsons at Decatur/Blue Diamond, and the Smiths at Southern Highlands/Cactus.

For Mountains Edge you have the Albertsons on Blue Diamond/Decatur, the Smiths and Albertsons on Rainbow a few miles north of Blue Diamond, and the Walmart/Home Depot/Sam's Club/best Buy shopping center at 215/Rainbow. Maybe when the construction on Blue Diamond and the construction of the north/south surface streets are complete it will be much easier to get access to shopping and the freeway, but I do not know when that will be complete.

Southern Highlands and Mountain`s Edge are both nice place to live. Now that most of the Blue Diamond Road completed easy access to I15 and travel north to 215.South Decatur which turns into Southern Highlands leads to I15 at Southern tip of the city.

We have been looking to buy in both but I personally like SH better, it seems that the LIDS and HOA's are lower which is something to consider. The access to 15 is better as well. I think the design of SH has more of a master plan feel to it. The roads are nicely landscaped and there are areas of Mountain's Edge that I don't get cell phone reception so to have to get a land line is not something I am looking to do even as inexpensive as it is. One thing to consider as well which is a negative trend we have noticed about Mountains Edge is that there are alot more rental properties there. Now that's not a terrible thing but we have noticed that it seems to bring the neighborhoods down. Not to say that SH doesn't have the same issues but I don't see it as much there.

Those punks. Graffiti makes me SO angry!!!
If anyone ever catches taggers in the act, call 911- it's considered a crime in progress.

Neither, If I'm going to be more than a few miles from the action and want to live in suburbia, I'm gonna choose a real suburbia like green valley or summerlin.

i cant stand it either... if you travelled 95 east towards downtown, you will notice one of the signs for casino center (downtown) is full of graffiti. Nothing is legible on the sign....My question: How long does it take to change the sign and how did they get the graffiti on it in the first place..(in the middle of the freeway).. didn't anyone see them?
