Us old folks from Ohio took a mini trip to Laughlin, Nv and everyone who responded and said their is nothing there, you made us change our minds, we are still moving next year but will look in a safe Las Vegas area apartment complex....we would also consider Mesquite, since they even have a Walmart there. So I wanted to thank everyone who told us about Laughlin, I value your comments. We were told these areas are good: Henderson, Summerlin, Centenial Hills, Green Valley, Spring Valley and Desrt shores, so now the fun begins of researching these areas. Any new apartment complexes under construction, does anyone know of any? Thanks.......

All those places you mentioned are fine (you know that Green Valley is actually part of Henderson). I'm partial to Desert Shores because I stayed with a friend there a while back and it was very nice and quiet with all the amenities nearby.

You may want to expand your search to Boulder City, which is just far enough away from Las Vegas to feel like a small rural town but close enough to Henderson for shopping and what-not. Also, you can't beat that lake view!

Buzz, don't pick on the nice Ohioans! (We certainly know where the grammarians are at!) I had to look at this thread simply because of the "at" to see where the poster was from. I am a former Ohioan myself.

Drive on West Charleston Blvd until you get to I-215. It's near Red Rock, and it's a beautiful area!

As far as my answer to the poster inquiring about rentals, I helped her previously by steering her to google to plan her trip. She didn't specify a rental price, which would be my question, since retirees live on a fixed income and make me think if we knew that, our areas and apartment complex answers might become quite narrowed down. Personally, living on a fixed income myself, we can do quite nicely if we live on a totally cash basis but I can't imagine what life might be like if a big chunk of that monthly money had to go out the window for rent.

I don't believe there are any apartment complexes in Anthem. Down the hill, yes, but not in Anthem proper. Sun City Anthem is a retirement community, but not apartments.
