HAHAHAH That article just made me laught now they are hiring not only out of towners but people not even living in the USA... Typical thats why this country is going to hell in a handbasket...

The good job news won out on this day. Eighty-percent of the new hires will come from Nevada, the rest from across the nation and a few from Canada, Europe, and Singapore.

It will help the housing market by making people move here and buy a house... BUT many locals, I bet, if they had a job and the money would buy a house too. I know I would!

I just called to check on my status, and the lady asked if I have been called yet. Well, at this time no, I haven't. She then told me that I should monitor my e-mail and phone calls since I'm suppose to be getting a call pretty soon.

YES!!

I wish they were hiring more out of towners. My friend never got called for a Dept. Head interview. 20+ years in F+B most of them as a GM or a single operation or of a complex and not a peep from them. The strange thing is he is still showing open and active. Must be a glitch in their system.
As for why they would hire from overseas, they may have to hire a certain amount of people with VISAs who knows. I know my friend used a lot of people like this especially to fill in during the busy seasons. They are not permanent works, usually the visas were good for 6 months to a year. This could help them get opened and running without having to lay a bunch of people off.
As for people from other parts of the country.....It's bad everywhere and even people not living in Vegas need jobs!

FYI as of September 1 Detroit, Mi unemployment rate is 28%. I know its hard when you are a struggling city, but there are places that are worse for wear. It is good for your city if new people move there. It will create more public service jobs, help you're struggling real estate market, among others. Its never a bad thing when people move to your town. Businesses need people in them to run!!! Look at Detroit!!! Then there is highland park at 35%Pontiac 35%!!! Flint 28% Leisure will bounce back! More casinos will open eventually.. Cosmopolitan, La Fantaine.... Unfortunately the auto industry in America is shot!!! How many people are really from vegas originally? Not being cocky just truly wondering?
