The good news is all of the activities are readily available, the bad news is that a home that size won't even be close to that payment. It will be more at double the payment you are making in Texas.

I suggest you google rentals in Las Vegas and you will find different property managers that will help you find a home. You have to be very careful with the high foreclosures in Vegas you could end up moving into a rental and find yourself having to move out. By working with a rental company they are suppose to keep tabs on their properties for that .
Good luck from Vegas

vegas is probably worse (job wise) than where you are coming from

I wish you luck in your search, although I have to agree with the previous poster. Texas has lower unemployment and a more stable economy compared with many parts of the country. Just remember a "bird in the hand beats two in the bush". LV is often the "two in the bush" for many!

We would like to move to LV one day, and we've been doing "research" for bout 10 years now. There's a HUGE difference in living in Las Vegas area and Texas (depending on where you are in Texas). Las Vegas happens to suit us, (although I do love Texas). But we have taken our time and kept our eyes WIDE open and realistic to come to this conclusion.

In the meantime, I'll keep coming to LV as many times as year as possible to keep up my "research".

I would think job wise you are probably swapping one thing for another.

Texas has plenty of jobs but they are mostly in the low wage service industry.

Las Vegas has jobs, but they are .. mostly in the service industry. The one difference is it's probably cheaper to live in Texas but you have more calamities there.

Trucking jobs should be pretty much everywhere because everything in the nation is shipped by truck at one point or another. I would think that your hubby would probably have to get a paycut initially as no one hires anyone looking for a job at their former rate.

I wouldn't see why your husband couldn't get a job in Vegas. After all, most everything is trucked in there as they don't actually make anything.

It might be a good idea to have in mind what type of wage you'd need to live on. You could sell your house in Texas and buy one of the foreclosed or shortsales, fix it up and live at a lower price. That way you don't need to make as much money.
