My point is that these are people from China, not Nevada, who captured and enslaved women and smuggled them into this country and forced them to work as prostitutes to mostly out of state and foreign tourists. These are not Americans, and especially not Nevadans. Once discovered by Las Vegas police they were arrested and the women were rescued.

Prostitutes downtown and on the Strip do get busted all the time here, but since it isn't a felony they are right back out on the street after paying a fine. According to my sources most of them come here from Southern California where during the week they may be secretaries and school teachers. Many of those ladies who are dressed like people expect prostitutes to be dressed, might just be letting it all hang out because they believe it's ok to do that here, and they may or may not be hooking. Most of us locals can spot the tourists because they are the ones who look like they left their good sense back home. There really isn't much that can be done about it here in Las Vegas, nor can they do anything in every other city in the world where prostitution goes on, and has ALWAYS gone on under the noses of the "authorities" since Eve dropped her fig leaf for Adam for a bite of his apple.

If you are going to use prostitution or gambling to condemn Las Vegas or the State of Nevada, you'd better look at your own stomping grounds first, because wherever you are it's going on right under your nose. At least we have enough sense to regulate and tax it.

I don't personally approve of anybody degrading themselves like prostitues do, would not want to associate with anyone who has no honor or self respect, but I know that it is and always has been a worldwide "problem", and I respect the Nevada cow counties where they at least regulate it, tax it, and keep it on the up and up.

LOL. I was looking for different information about Las Vegas and Clark County, but how can I resist? People are still raving about Leaving Las Vegas, arguably one of the greatest films produced. In that movie we see some of the dark side of Las Vegas life and that includes the life of the Vegas prostitute. Not a happy life, either.

That is why I was disturbed by comments of some people that they never see prostitutes in Las Vegas and that prostitution is of, essentially, no concern to the citizens of Las Vegas. Although arresting Chinese immigrant prostitues is a good thing, since "they are not Americans."

The common views of prostitution are based on law and morals. Some people will accept prostitution if it is legal, or at least somewhat under control and under the table. Others will condemn all prostitution, mostly for moral reasons, but also as a matter of public policy to protect public health and well- being.

Lately, I am falling into the latter group as more and more evidence comes out that most prostitutes are in that business as a result of being abused as a child or young woman and finding themselves without enough strength to avoid obviously destructive life styles including drug use, alcohol abuse, abusive relationships, criminal activity, and prostitution.

If there are thousands of prostitutes in Las Vegas, it is probably true that compared to the huge influx of visitors every year, the number is not at all surprising. Even the never-relenting barrage of TV ads about "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas," seems to entice people interested in illicit activities, rather then going to Circus-Circus with the kids.

Maybe Las Vegas should pay more attention to prostitution, but view it as a public health and welfare matter and use some of those gigantic tax revenues from the entertainment, gaming, hospitality and convention businesses, on at least seeing if the city is condoning misery and degradation of women while profiting off their work, just as any pimp does.

Perhaps you are too ugly for hookers to approach. They are everywhere on the strip. You are living in the stone age dude. They don't dress like hookers on the strip, but they are everywhere. They dress normal

You either have very bad eyesight, or, are very naive. My guess is both. Of course, time of day has a lot to do with your opinion. Try anywhere on LVBS, or any hotel between the hours of 12am-6am. If you still can't spot the whores and pimps; you're right, they simply don't exist.

Default Well I guess I am one of those Horrid Women in the Discussion

This town is kinda funny in that there are lots of different kinds of "ladies" that work here......some do the streets, some the casino bars, some just rob, then there are the "ladies" that stay out of the public eye, live quite lives and "try" to do this in a clean safe atmosphere.

My issues that bother me most is the hotel stings (I never even go into a casino) but the fact that it endangers hotel guest is what bothers me most. And the hotels allow it! What if a crazy pimp opens fire? Things can always happen.

Then the police will spend a fortune on craigslist bust, a friend (55 year old woman) was swat teamed at the manor suites one evening.... now how much did that cost? To take down a 55 yo woman that needed rent money, rub her face in the floor and tell her how ugly she was?

Now I don't apologize for who I am or what I do to make a living, in fact I love it. I don't do drugs, I have complete aims check-ups once a month, donate to 5 charities and have done animal rescue for years... so what if I get paid to spend time and affection.......when there are so many giving it away.

I guess what I am saying there are a whole lot of sides to every story, judge each individually.

So you're a prostitute (illegal) that joined this board one day and then bumped a 1+ year old thread. That's odd. Don't you have better stuff to be doing than posting on this board - or are you looking for new clients?
