I travel all over the country on business and have never once encountered a hotel where a tip for the valet was included in the hotel's charge for parking. Not to say that there isn't a hotel or two somewhere out there that does it (since you obviously have come across one or two to have made that statement), but it definitely isn't the norm.

I have been wondering for the longest time if you're supposed to tip the kid who dries off your car after you go through the car wash. I don't want to be rude and not tip, but my $8 car wash turns into $12 if there are 3 or 4 kids working on the car. What's the right thing to do? I seriously have been avoiding the car washes until I can figure this out!

Give the guy that hands you the keys $2 or $3 bucks. There was a car wash on Maryland Parkway coming out of the LV Country Club. The guys who wiped down cars there had PhD's and made a ton of money in tips.

Funny thing about tipping in most of the casinos is that everyone within that particular department has to share their tips, so you are really tipping everyone regardless of if you like their service or not.

I sort of agree with not tipping everyone also. Why stop at the casinos? What about the people that bag your groceries, should they get tipped? The person that delivers your newspaper, should they get tipped? It really IS out of hand. What about casino hosts (they are already getting paid pretty well) do they get tipped? What about the tourists that ask security at the hotel to take pictures of the group, then don't tip them? That is not security's job, some do it to be nice. I have never done it and once told a co worker not to do it, he did anyway, got brushed up against by accident by a drunken tourist dropped the camera then was told he had to pay for it. NICE. (I'm security at Wynn/Encore) Does anyone tip teachers? Now theres someone that should get tipped? I don't know how they do it.

Teachers in my home state earned about $22,000 the first year out of college. Cocktail waitresses in Las Vegas earn much, much more than that, and all they do is bring drinks on a platter to customers. Of course, they do it wearing heels in a costume.

However, I have to imagine that putting up with 7th and 8th graders all day long is much more difficult.

We can't tip teachers because it'd be unethical (too close to bribery) but it's a profession that is very deserving of extra pay and they receive very little.

A young student tipped his teacher, Mary Kay Letourneau, and she ended up in jail. Now she has two kids by the student. Go figure.
