We are moving to vegas in a couple months and have narrowed it down to two areas to buy a home. We have a 2nd grader and have narrowed our search down by elementary schools. The schools that I liked are Lummis & Bonner (summerlin area) and Rhodes and Bilbray in the centennial area. We also have a preschooler and need some advice to any preschools in those areas. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Will the Summerlin area be better for resale vs Centennial? Thanks

What areas are best are all subjective... depends on who you ask and what people think make up the best.

Personally after living there almost 10 years I think the best area of the valley is Green Valley. Second choice would be Summerlin. In terms of resale I would think you would be better going with Summerlin, rather than Centennial.

If kids were not an issue I would move to either Green Valley or Summerlin, both would be pretty equal. But with kids and schools being a matter for me to consider I have done the research and spent two years working in the schools there and feel the Green Valley area schools are better than those in Summerlin or other parts of the valley.

Lummis and Bonner are top 10% schools. Rhodes and Bilbray are top 20% schools. Lummis and Bonner are well established schools in well established neighborhoods. Rhodes and Bilbray are new schools in neighborhoods in full initial growth mode. Note that Bibray is paired with Schreckenbach.

Dealers choice. You will find a much higher density of young people around the NW places. You will find stability and mostly older famiilies around the Summerlin Schools.

As to GV the two best schools in town are there..Twitchell and Vandenberg. There are however GV schools not up to the level of the NW schools.

I doubt you can go wrong with any choice among the listed schools.

Just too bad you are moving in the worst state (we are ranked last) when it comes to education.

Good luck with the move!
