#1 The fact that Nevada doesn't have a State lottery and I don't have to stand in line waiting for people to scratch their cards!!!!

#2 Some great outdoor recreation areas surrounding the city.

#3 No mosquitos, or fleas.

Default You have friends awaiting you!

You have friends awaiting you when you arrive here in Las Vegas, say hello to them and they'll be among your most loyal and dedicated friends: the mountains.

Yes, there'll be days, moments, when they look a little drab, but a day later, a moment later, you may need your blood pressure medication with you, as they'll take your breath away with their beauty!

That long drive from Railroad Pass near Henderson down into the valley, day or night is such a beautiful drive I'm surprised there's not a toll booth at the top to charge me for the privilege of seeing all that beauty.

Sunrises, sunsets against the mountains can be particularly beautiful. And those days when a few clouds are about and certain areas are blackened out with the clouds, and other areas gleaming with color.

And winter comes, and the cone fo Mt. Charleston to the west! Spectacular! You'll want to just climb up there and gobble it up like a Sno-cone!

Please, Please, Please can we start a single sticky thread of the beauty of the non-Strip Las Vegas valley all days of the year! I visit sticky photo threads on many state and city forums, we need one here, and not a day later!

I like the way you think...and write. First time I saw that sight, after three days crossing the desert in a non-air conditioned car, back in 1964, I knew I was home. And first time I saw Mt. Charleston covered with snow, I thought it looked like an ice cream cone..or as you said...a snow cone. I said at the time that one day I would climb all the way up there. It took almost 20 years, and a heart attack for motivation, but I did it, and more than once. I don't see how anyone can live anywhere there are no mountains. Tried it once in Texas and couldn't wait to get back.

Thanks everyone for there answers! I am coming from Minnesota and am very much looking forward to the change of weather and scenery. I do not have a job lined up. I have served and bartented for eleven years and hope to find a waitressing job somewhere (anywhere!) my husband and I have decided to take the first jobs we find and not be picky! We are coming down w/ three months living expenses. We pay twelve hundred a month now for a two bedroom two bath apartment. We are looking at purchasing a home in the range of $120,000 and $140,000. We have great credit and 25% down so hopefully our mortgage payments will be less then twelve hundred. We also have a few friends with contacts for jobs. We have free chilcare lined up for three months and will probably stay for one month for free with some friends why we look for jobs and such

We should be okay right?
