Hey guys,

Wondering what the job market for pharmacists is like in Las Vegas. I know overall the job market is not so good, but it seems like pharmacists are still in high demand.

Is that true for Las Vegas as well?
Is one particular area(of pharmacy) stronger than another (ie, retail, hospital, etc.)?

Thanks for the advice.

I would try Walgreen's I know that they are in need of Pharmacists because I work for Walgreen's. And I think that they also have a sign on bonus as well when you get hired.

I look at jobs available every day and I see ads for pharmacists almost every time I look. One I saw this morning was $60 per hour and I believe it was part time. If I remember correctly it was on Monster. Just put in a Vegas zip code(89101 is downtown) and see what pops up.

It is definitely quite saturated here. Definitely in retail, probably (but not entirely sure) in hospital and other areas (I know just last week while I was interning at a hospital there was a new pharmacist they hired--a.m. shift too! So maybe it's not that way for hospital yet, I don't know. Most of the new retail pharmacists I've met are floating though). My understanding is that many major metropolitan areas are saturated, but in smaller towns there are still open positions. Doesn't mean you won't be able to get a job here as a pharmacist, it just may take longer/work the less-popular shifts/floating, etc. (part-time too--what I hear is that a lot of the employers are trying to hire for part-time now, just can't verify that by actual experience though).

Great comments. Very helpful!

Walgreens would be prefered, so it is good to know there is at least some demand.

Haven't a clue as I do nothing to stimulate the sales of local drug chain's.

Shame on me! I go to Farmacia's in Tijuana once a year for my supplies.
