I started looking at both again during the last year and not consistently so my opinions may not be based on enough data.

The Sun has won a Pulitzer Prize and it seemed to have more coverage of he Ensign scandal. Other than that, and I am only comparing the ONLINE editions what are your thoughts?

Ocean2026:

There is a fundamental difference in the publications in that the R-J leans hard-right conservative and the Sun is a left-leaning publication.

Unfortunately, the Sun is a much smaller publication and, consequently, cannot cover the national and international news to the volume and extent that the R-J does. And that certainly gives the R-J the ability to feed the readership more of the content it wishes to promote.

And that, in a nutshell, is why I cancelled my subscription to the R-J years ago...

i don't subscribe to either.

for the online content, i find myself checking out the las vegas sun much more - better looking, easier to navigate, content seems a bit more thorough (though to be honest, i don't think either one does a great job).

They are both slanted....in opposite directions. Print media is supposedly written to an 8th grade level. I have to wonder if some of those reporters ever saw 8th grade..

I read the Las Vegas Review Journal online. I have read the Sun as well. I prefer the LVRJ.
