we plan on coming down to vegas for new years eve and we are trying to look for a suite as 5 of us will be sharing a room. short of going to each hotels website individually.. can anyone reccomend a website that will give us the ability to search for suites only? we are preferably looking for something on the strip and want to spend less than $500.

I cant think of any site that does only suites. Try priceline. Also keep in mind usually for New Years most hotels require a 2 night stay

also a ROOM on new years at a decent place is going to run you 300-500.. a suite closer to a grand. and as the above poster mentioned.. 2 night stay..

True if the hotels are close to 100% occupancy. If they are still far from full with a couple weeks to go, and it doesn't look like there is going to be a last minute rush, they could drop their rates significantly. About ten years ago I decided not to spend NYE in Las Vegas because the room rates I saw were $300+. Then after Xmas I checked the rates again and they were less than half that, so I quickly made plans to get to LV.

I just did a quick check of the Rio - NYE reservations require cancellation 7 days in advance to avoid being charged for one night. If you must be in Las Vegas for NYE, I'd make a reservation now, just to be insure you have a place to stay, as long as you can cancel for no charge, and keep an eye on rates as it gets close to the last day you can cancel, and cancel your original reservation if you find a significantly better deal.

I would check out Orbitz.com, Expedia.com. These types of websites give you the star rating of the hotels available starting FROM (key word - FROM) a certain price and going up from there. I checked Orbitz, and it groups together the hotels according to location of the strip, on, off, near, etc...

You have to be careful with the following: Does it include taxes? How many days in advance do you need to cancel to receive a full refund? What are the cancellation penalties? Does the room need to be paid in full at time of booking?

Always look into this before booking, as I'm a travel agent, and online bookers always call me with these types of problems, hoping I can fix them.

As a tip, I wouldn't even say that you have 5 people in the room, most hotels won't allow more than 4 adults even if it's a suite and it has enough beds for it, unless you're booking a two bedroom/two bath suite at say the Residence Inn by Marriott, or Homewood Suites (both are off the strip). Most of the time, you can have that additional person standing somewhere away from the Hotel Check In area and just have them join you when going to the elevators.

The only two bedroom suites that I know of on the strip that will accomodate 5 adults would be MGM Signature, and thats only going to work if they let you bring rollaways, or if 4 of the 5 are couples and will be sleeping together. And on NYE, that will cost you a lot more than $500.

Anyway, 2 individual rooms are almost always cheaper than a suite.

Suites for NY's are next to impossible. They are held back for proven players of the higher limit variety.... the few places that have them [possibley non-casino hotels] with charge three arms, two legs and your first born.

First of all, we're talking New Years Eve in a genuine mecca of uninhibited, extravagant, nightlife culture. Unless you know a well-established local, you're already way too late in the game for any of the favored accommodations. It wouldn't surprise me if even average suites (e.g., no view, minimum extras) are pretty darn unavailable from that trend, as well. Aside from that tough fact of this market, your budget is the main factor being considered in the rest of my advice.

Is the whole suite idea really important to you? I can see wanting a sort of living room, kitchen, and bedroom privacy, but I've gotta ask just to possibly help you settle for less in one arena of planning...

In Vegas on NYE, how much actual "living" are you going to spend in your room aside from sleeping? Many regular rooms have doors that turn them into sort of a suite, minus the living room/kitchen. You'd have to make reservations together, though, to ensure your rooms are properly located. Nonetheless, that brings the group integration without the high markup, specific shopping, or scarce availability.

For those who want a suite for parties, let's not forget the associated liabilities can really hurt when you aren't a wealthy rockstar. It will cause much less mental anguish to let someone else provide the party venue while you keep a nice place to retreat when the party becomes overwhelming, or worse.

Altogether, there will be so much going on around you that a suite may almost turn into more of a burden than a luxury, and that's assuming you can find one that isn't just a room with a glorified label (all you'll find under $1K for those dates at this time).

Odds are that you're coming to Vegas for this specific holiday to wander around and enjoy the party culture in its height, not spend it in your room just as you could in any locale. I'd advise just settling for adjacent rooms and letting the city and its penchant for accommodating seasonal whackiness be your suite. You'll find many more options at your disposal, and a market that's not nearly as exclusive.

so i called around individually to the strip hotels.. most were booked solid, but i did happen to find a room available at the venetian. i booked the rialto suite which si 1100 sq ft for $579.

is this a decent suite?
