Clear is Wimax (802.16) and Wifi is (802.11.), so its a totally different animal so you need the hardware to able to use it.

Does anybody know how good the coverage is in Las Vegas, I mean all over, far west side. north side near Aliante Station, downtown, the strip, specifically I live at Charleston & Pecos, and I work at the Valley Auto Mall. Are the speeds consistent? Or do they very widely?

I'm not sure of the speed, but heard that its reasonable good. Clear does not have service all over the valley.

As far as I know speeds can be anywhere from 1mb-7mb depending on location. I don't like it enough to get it.

So if I were to get it, I wouldn't be able to just hook it up to my wireless router? That's what I've been planning to do.

Yes you can. Do not get Wifi and Wimax mixed up. Wifi is for your home (your router) you will get a WiMax modem (just like your cox or embarq) to hook up to the Clear Network via wireless and then you can hook up your router to that device so you can use Wifi in you home.
