You just hook up the modem to your wireless router, and you are good to go. Best thing to do is find someone who has the clear service, b/c they can just bring it to your house, plug it in, and you can test it out.

Well heck, I get a 7 day trial. And 80% of my use will be either home or work. Maybe on occasion I'll bring my laptop to a park or a food court at a mall. So I'll make the best of my 7 day trial. Tech support told me my work address is right in between two towers. And my home address isn't even a quater mile from a tower. So I don't see any reason I should have good solid reliable speeds at both my work and home. What I like about Clear is it is UNLIMITED, where as the other wireless companies have this evil data cap of 5GB's, so no worries, I can watch as much HULU as I want!!! I will be getting service this coming thursday (10/15)

The CLEAR guys were out at our apartment already, but they weren't willing to give me the same deal as Best Buy (buying our modem with free activation and no contract) so I didn't go through them, but I did test it out and it works just as good as the DSL I have now... only it's $20 cheaper.

Clear.com High Speed Mobile / Wireless Internet Service Provider (http://www.clear.com/index/coverage - broken link)

Don't trust the map, though - plug in your address.

I tried it again recently, and while their hardware would connect, it would drop constantly, throughput was complete crap and latency was a joke. It turns out that they don't officially have coverage at my address, which is near Cheyenne and Rainbow - not exactly on the fringes of the valley...

I just signed up with Clear on Friday. I got the home modem, which was $140 to start it, and $30 a month thereafter. When I got it home, I was very impressed with it as it worked flawlessly. However, it is not doing so good at work. I can only get 3 bars to light up, and the speed is about half what it was at home. Still, it is way better than the Cricket I had, so I am going to keep it.

It is internet through an ethernet cable, so I do not see why it would not work with Windows 7. However, I would call and ask them to be sure.

If your using the ethernet adapter, it should work on Windows 7, now the problem might lie with the USB adapter for laptops and desktops. They will need a driver and the driver might not be updated for windows 7 for optimal performance. I would wait and see for driver updates from the company that builds the USB adapter.

Ok, I am at work again, and I found a better place to put the modem where it is getting 4 light bars on top. Now the speed is what is advertised. Also, the guy who signed me up at the Eastern office called me today to make sure everything is ok with the service. Overall, I am impressed with the company.

I had the 6mpbs plan over the summer and never got more than half that. Their tech support is useless and salespeople try to swindle you into an 18 month contract. Perhaps it's improved since August when I dumped it, but I'd suggest going month to month if you care to try it.
