I was thinking of maybe taking a vacation there in January...say early to mid not sure how long yet.

I'm NOT looking to spend new years day there and I'm not looking for any fancy type of hotel. I figure if I can walk the strip and take in some sites it will be fine.

I'm a bit bummed that the CES (consumer electronic show) still isn't open to um...consumers but there's no way around that.

I've been to a casino before it's ok I wasn't planning on gambling much.

Vegas in January is the same as Vegas in February. Like what do you mean, exactly? Weather? Crowds? Shows? Prices?

I have vacationed in Vegas in January before. When I was there, it snowed Everyone else thought it was cool!

When it wasn't snowing it was nice, light coat weather but warm sun on my face.

We have two seasons in Las Vegas ─ summer and January. It can be cold, but probably not as cold as wherever you are coming from unless it's San Diego or South Texas or Florida.

Usually the best time to visit a resort is the weekend after New Years. Nobody there, so you should get the best deals, and not have crowds to fight with. But we could have some big conventions in January too. Go on line and look for scheduled events.

Buzz's probably is quite accurate. However, last time I visited in January, it was 41 degrees in Albany, NY, as I boarded to the plane. When I arrived in Las Vegas, it was slight below freezing (30 degrees). Go figure.

The only time I've ever seen freezing temps during the day in Las Vegas was January, 1991. It often goes below freezing at night in Dec/Jan. I've replaced my backflow valve twice in the this house. In Jan 91 had to replace a pool filter that froze and broke.

That day it snowed in December last year had to be pretty close to freezing during the day. I remember it being around 35 degrees during the middle of the day, at least on the weather channel.

But I'm pretty sure it has only gone below freezing in the daytime that one time. Remember, if it's too cold it won't snow.

Default Vegas Winter Weather

Always a fun question to think about. In the winter of 2002 (including January 2002) it was dry w/ drought conditions, and it was sunny in the 50's / 60's every day (70's, 80's, in Nov 2001, just fantastic!).

The following summer (2002), it was so dry in the Southwest that Oak Creek Canyon near Sedona was closed to all traffic!

In the winter of 2008 (including January 2008) there were cold fronts every week or two, with gusty winds, rain, and snow in Vegas, and fragrant Creosote Bush odor!

Flagstaff, Arizona received lots of snow that winter, since the very same cold fronts that arrive with upper level lows to our north move in a WNW to ESE trajectory over Vegas into Flagstaff, and then into Albuquerque (Colorado can be different).

To address this issue. Where do you work? Does your job not use electronics at all? You ought to be able to get in if you do just about anything...
