I've been gone 1 week, and I am on my second day of work. I will NEVER return to the Welfare State of Nevada.

Yet, you return often to the Las Vegas forum here?

Why don't you do us a favor, and NEVER return to the Las Vegas section of the forum?

I would just like to see people have a chance to read an opinion other than that of lying real estate agents, and other mainly negative worth individuals, who are leading people astray. I would also like to offer a ray of hope for those, who plan on escaping the doom in the desert. It is a very beautiful Welfare State; it's just a horrible place to work and look for work. Nothing for you all to get upset about.

I moved here from Hawaii 6 years ago. I do not have any problems living here. I live in SW Las Vegas. The crime didn't occur within my neighborhood area. Every summer, we've been gone to Europe for 2-4 weeks. Nothing happened to our house cuz we have an excellent neighborhood watch here :-)

Oh please, give us all a break. No one told you and any of the other people to move here. You just HAD to, didn't you? Because you came here once and had a nice vacation.

Oh pa leeze. There are plenty of successful, happy people who live here too, how do you think the valley grew so much. We are entitled to post our opinions as well. That's what this forum is all about.

No real estate agent or anyone offering advice on a chat board made you make mistakes and ill plan your life so that you are so negative. YOU and all the other negative people who moved here blindly did that to yourselves.

I've never been a victim of crime here, and I don't know anyone personally who has been either. I don't get how the poster could be a victim of crime so often?

Unfortunately, we've seen so many like you and all the other negative posters come and go, seems like for some reason, once you leave Las Vegas, you all just can't keep away from these forums! Are you getting paid to "warn" the public about Las Vegas?

Don't blame anybody but yourselves for the messes you created here in Las Vegas, you didn't plan well, you had no savings, no marketable skills for employment here and you made bad financial/life decisions. You came here for vacation and wanted to move here because you had "fun." No one told you or anybody else to!!! And if all these now negative posters are basing their life decisions on what they read on a public chat forum, then they there all morons! These boards are for entertainment purposes only!!! What's wrong with you people!!!

The city of (and the people who live in) Las Vegas didn't do that TO you! YOU did it to yourself, so move on with your life and put it all behind you, chalk it up to one of those life lessons that we all learn along the way.

God's peace to you, be well and much luck to you!

Its okay to steal (or commit property crime) if you are under 18???

If you believe this you are far more forgiving than I am.

BTW I also live in the NW and where I happen to be its far from quite infact within the past two days someone attemped to break into both my attached garage and a neighbors. My house was broken into last year and my credit card info has been stolen countless times since I moved here...so often infact that I only now use cc for travel. I CANNOT wait to get out of here. I have worked very hard for what I have and am not about to have another maggot steal from me again. It's a damn shame what is happening here. Vegas as has always been a magnet for shady people and now many of them are unemployed and desperate... what a joy!!!! There IMHO is much to love about Las Vegas and I will miss certain aspects of living here (my income mainly) but gosh what's the point of having anything nice if someone with an unfounded sense of entitlement is just going to steal it? It's one thing to knowingly run around with a sketchy crowd and be victimized (that lifestyle will catch up with a person regardless of where they live). The problem (as I see it) in Vegas is crime is really starting to effect the mainstream and it is tragic (for a community) when the honest hard working folks leave because of it. I've always lived in big cities (Vegas being by far the smallest) so I am no stranger to petty crime HOWEVER culturally Vegas has far less to offer than those (and many other) cities. IMHO it's like putting up with the problems of a big city without the big city advantages.

I love the weather too.

Best wishes to the OP...save your money and make a plan if leaving Vegas is what you hope to do.
Actually crime in the US and in Las Vegas is down substantially over the last 20 years and I believe year over year. It is roughly half what it was at the peak.

I have used the same two credit cards for the last 25 years and aside from a change or to by the CC companies have had only one problem...and that was in Hawaii. For the last 14 years I have lived in Las Vegas and used those cards regularly without problem.

Teenagers commit crime around their home virtually everywhere. It is one of the reasons why gated communities don't help a huge amount. The only way I know of to stop that particularly crime type is live where there are no teenagers.

Welfare State? Nevada? You are kidding right? I believe lousey welfare is a special attribute of Nevada...second only to Alabama or so...

This particular Realtor does not lead anybody astray. And in fact I would be an advocate of controlling growth in the Vegas Valley. We should not repeat that last debacle ever.

Keep in mind, that the real estate market was a complete success for me. I bought for 63 per square foot, and sold for 99 per square foot (a condo), and I did get some good advice here that I took with a serious bag of salt. I never got robbed and was never a crime victim, accept for the various people trying to hunt humans in the crosswalks. I could have been a victim of the work scams, but knew better. I'm glad they were discussed in other threads. I have no problem with the heat and you will get many different opinions on that.

I stayed 8 months, and did my fair share for the community. I took a vacated condo, formerly owned by a loan modification specialist, that looked like a cheap Mexican restaurant, and refurbished it with new paint, carpet, and energy efficient appliances. The HOA payments were brought up to date, as were the property taxes. A transfer fee was paid to the County going in, and going out. The 3000+ I spent was taxed at 8.1%. Coming and renting for even 6 months would have been a disaster. I put my idle hours to good use. I would have liked to have about 15-20 hours per week of part time work, this would have multiplied into lots of casino action, as I am a serious football fan, and I like to drink beer. I would have washed dishes (BBA degree and all), but there were no jobs, period.

Disagree with me all you want, but please respect free speech. That will add a lot more credibility to this forum.
