If Las Vegas is the dumbest city then so be it? I really don't think I'm dumb and was educated in California so I guess if I live here it nullifies my education in California. If your going to spend your time reading these studies and judging people by it, then I think that's all opinion. I've met some smart people that never went to school, and there are educated people with no common sense. Just to let you know, I have worked at some big named companies in Silicon Valley and I choose to make a living repair/maint. swimming pools because I enjoy it. I was also tired of working for someone instead of working for myself. Hope Colorado works out better for you. Good Luck!

Instead of trying to deny the obvious truth, Las Vegas should embrace its status, for example:

"Las Vegas: Leave your brain at home, all we want is your money."

Hey drunk... its a free country, why not just ignore the thread? Please allow people to speak freely here. There are obviously people who like a good healthy debate. If you don't, then you should be the one to leave.

Report: Vegas near bottom on list of smartest cities - Monday, Oct. 5, 2009 | 4:20 p.m. - Las Vegas Sun

"The lights of Las Vegas might be bright, but some of its residents aren't. That’s according to some number crunching by The Daily Beast Web site (http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-10-04/americas-smartest-cities---from-first-to-worst/ - broken link), which in its ranking of smarts for 55 metro areas put Las Vegas one notch away from being the dumbest city in America. The only place dumber, The Daily Beast said, is Fresno, Calif."

"A perfect score on the ranking was 200. Raleigh-Durham, N.C., which it ranked No. 1, had a “Daily Beast IQ Score” of 170. Las Vegas’ score? 11. Fresno got a 3."

After Raleigh, the top five areas were San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose; Boston; Minneapolis-St. Paul; and Denver. At the bottom were Memphis, Tenn.; Louisville, Ky.; San Antonio, Texas; Las Vegas; and Fresno."

All I can say is "wow."
Interesting article.

Are you serious?? This poster has crossed the line by calling all the locals here stupid, so I called her on it. This is not a debate at all.

Exactly. How could the OP expect us to take them serious when they post the following statement, "every time I turn around people are robbing me blind", without an explanation.

MomMom, I hate Las Vegas because I have children and this is the scum of the earth place to raise them.

I did not lose my money in a casino, well, maybe $100 in the 10 years I have been here (and I still hate this place) mostly because I don't find joy or entertainment in gambling. I lease because I couldn't buy a home as the prices were so outrageously high. I am now sitting in a foreclosed home with my children and had paid the California landlord $1300/mo while she pocketed the money and did not pay the bank for 11 months!

I work for a casino company, who like others out there, have downsized and cut back until what remains of the work force is demoralized and broken, but we're told we should still be thankful we have a job. I just kind of believe there is more to life than being thankful for a job that is just a little better than being on welfare.

I left my husband in 2003 for many reasons, but Vegas seemed to bring out the worst in him. I also went to my home state for about a year, but tried to do right by my kids and came back so they could visit with him more. BIG MISTAKE!

I spent the better part of 5 years in the freaking family court trying to appease stupid judges who threatened to put me in jail for 25 days and change custody of our children to an abuser. The ex attacked and beat our daughter as well as me and the stupid DA in this city REFUSED to prosecute him and acted like I was the perpetrator.

The ex kidnapped our son from his daycare and the stupid police REFUSED to retrieve him and likewise the stupid DA REFUSED to prosecute him though I filed a custodial interference complaint AND got a Return of Child signed by a Judge.

On top of that, in the summer when children should have the opportunity to play outside and enjoy the weather, they can't because we live in a freaking 110 degree summer desert! Las Vegas has the highest ratings for teen pregnancy, suicide, high school drop outs, addictions of all sorts, the school system ranks 49th, and there are no quality public secondary education choices in this state like available in other states. Every time I turn on the news NV has ranked the best of the worst again.

Yes, I know a lot of people that love it here. They haven't experienced what I have experienced in this horrid, stupid, backwoods city. I know there are a lot of good aspects for people that like this type of town. I just happen to be one that does not.

So there are my "truth-isms" as you put it and I've only scratched the surface. I visited this town in 1979 when I was about 15 years old. My mom asked me then what I thought of Vegas. I said, "Nice place to visit, wouldn't want to live here." I should have taken my own advice. I will eventually be able to leave and when I do I will follow the old Irish rule and NEVER look back.

Other than the weather and possibily the quality of the schools, everything else cannot be blamed on Vegas. If you think housing prices are outragous in Vegas, head over to Southern California.

Are you really blaming Vegas for your relationship problems? Do you think if you and your ex lived anywhere else that you would still be together?

As for your job, there are layoffs all over the country.
