Its coming to the skiing season, is there any slopes that you would recommend for beginners? Which are the cheapest slopes?

Sorry dude, you don't have a lot of options. Unless you want to drive to Utah or Big Bear, you only have one ski/snowboard area nearby....Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard resort on Mt. Charleston. It can definitely be fun however, so give it a try!

Try Sapphire. I've seen some some steep and challenging peaks there.

You are talking about a stripper, I presume?

Oooops...no. The only one I've been to in LV is Olympic Gardens...and that's because I accidentally walked in there looking to play blackjack. They only had sl_ut machines.

The terrain at Sapphire is breathtaking, but unlike a normal ski resort, it costs $20 for each run, and each run is over in three minutes.

Although they give lessons at Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Park, I recommend you take your first lesson at Bryan Head Ski Resort, which is 3½ - 4 hours north in Utah. Take I-15 to Parowan, UT, and follow the signs up the mountain. Bryan Head is where most people in Las Vegas go, and it's really got more services; not quite full service, but almost. Unless you are already a good skier, or are just starting out, the Las Vegas ski area can turn you off against the sport, and that would be a shame.

I believe Bryan Head still has a deal where they furnish skis, poles, and boots, plus half a day lesson, and full day lift ticket for one low price, for first time skiers. Don't know how much it is now, but it was the best $29.95 I ever spent about 25 years ago. They guarantee you'll be skiing by the end of the day. Plus they teach you ski etiquette, which is pretty important if you plan to survive, and not kill anyone else. It’s a great sport, but if you try to learn without taking a lesson one of the following will more than likely happen:
1, You won’t like it and you’ll miss the best fun of your life;

A, You’ll learn all kinds of bad habits from other bad skiers that will cause you to not like the sport and you’ll give up the best fun of your life.

5, You’ll get hurt, or hurt someone else and get sued…and you’ll give up the sport, which was the best fun of your life.

Disclaimer: I don’t mean to imply that you can’t enjoy a day of skiing at LVS&SBP, but the narrow runs can be a challenge to a newbie on a crowded day, and the shortness of the runs can turn off an expert. And the lack of facilities can turn off anybody. I hear they plan a huge expansion though…sweet.

Q: How does a snowboarder introduce himself to a skier?
A: "Ooops, sorry dude."

Q: How is a snowboard similar to a vacuum cleaner?
A: They both suck, and they both have an attachment for a dirtbag

Oh, yeah. After your first lesson, practice your skills on a few ski trips to any slopes you choose, and then take an advanced lesson or two from any competent ski instructor; that's if you really want to enjoy skiing.
