Harrahs' broke the incapacitated player law and will be fined. Mr. Watanabe, losing a 100 million dollar inheritance is a tough deal. See you at Slot's O' Fun.

FWIW, Watanabe did NOT sell Oriental Trading to Warren Buffett or Berkshire Hathaway. It was sold by Mr. Watanabe to Brentwood Associates. Brentwood subsequently sold a majority interest to the Carlyle Group.

This not the first time Harrahs ENT has been sued for this and lost. I just feel bad for the Table Game and Slot managers at Caesars that will hang out to dry over this. Upper managment told them to kiss his ass and let him play not matter what condition Watanabe was in. The employees at Caesars call the Octavius tower the Watanabe tower. The funding stopped to finnish the tower once Watanabe put a hold of funds on his last two checks to Caesars.

While it is true that you can't have it both ways, it is disturbing that you then describe one extreme position versus the diametrically opposite extreme position. There are a lot of choices in between those two extremes that you didn't consider.
Don't be disturbed. It is simple a didactic technique to contrast one extreme position with its opposite. Apparently not simple enough though, since the owner of that extreme position responded with a logical contradiction.

Nice try but the expectation of personal repsonsibility is hardly an extreme position.

"..this is Las Vegas, this is the way we do it....and it will never change....my suggestion is that you avoid Las Vegas Casinos like the plague because you are not going to enjoy them.....

Well, thank you for your kind advice Dynnie. Should I, by some act of misfortune, happen to find myself in Vegas I will, as you suggest, avoid the casinos, unless I need to use a toilet or something.

I can assure you, love, I won't be allowing the casinos to make a sucker out of me by getting drunk on the free booze they provide and then gambling my hard earned money away - which, btw, is the whole point of the exercise in giving people free drinks - just in case some of you thought that they were doing it out of the kindness of their hearts. I know this might come as a shock to a lot of you folks but if the casinos didn't make money from handing out free booze then they would not do it.

Cheers.

I love the fact that you get free drinks while you gamble, at least if I end up losing I got a little bit out of it, saved money I would have spent at the bar. Have I probably lost a little more than I would have if I was sober some nights, yes, but I have also won more on some nights. Besides, I go to have a good time and never play with money I dont intend on losing anyway. When I wake up in the morning, I dont blame anyone for my losses but myself. I was the one that decided to drink. I hope this guy gets absolutely nothing.

What really shocked me about that article is that Wynn lost a mega-whale to Caesar's and Harrah's? Really? I'd bet money there's more to the story than just booze and prescription drugs, because no way are the "perks" mentioned in the story enough to steal that guy from Wynn or keep him from the Belagio or Venetian.

Caesars has taken many whales from Belagio, Wynn and Venetian. Caesars provides looser credit lines and no limit betting. It's not all just about the accomadations that the wealthy gamblers take into account where they spend thier money.
