Perhaps she could have vented this to her husband rather then the Las Vegas section of the city-data forum?

You choose to live here so suck it up and quit venting. Do you hate LV when you are cashing your husbands paycheck? You chose to come here, so quit complaing. So in your mind you Sacrificing your kids well being for money? If I thought it would harm my kids I would leave. Good parenting huh. I like your priorities. Please don't "vent" about my city anymore hypocrite.
Wow... Oscar Goodman himself in the house! The point is, when and if she can move (and me too for that matter) we will, and happily might I add. Oh, I have "sucked it up"; you have no idea. I'm sick of the rude arse people in this town, the road rage idiots, and the 'it's all about me' narcissistic shallow a-holes.

It is my prerogative to complain (& hers too) and I will continue to take complaints to the elected officials that hopefully will get off their duffs and strive to make Vegas a better place in the future --- if it lasts much longer. There are many variables that are against this town from water issues to an economy based on gaming and tourism that is, as many now see, unsustainable in horrid economic conditions.

Oh, btw, what makes Vegas any more YOUR city than others that live, work and pay taxes here? I can't wait for the day to see Vegas fade away in my rear view mirror. I'd love nothing more than to NEVER come back to this cesspool of a mirage.

But, it is what it is for now. Tomorrow is always another day closer to getting out of here! And that makes me extremely happy. At least I have a goal!

I do not understand why you don't just pick up and leave? I am from Phoenix. I did not like it there, so I packed up everything in my car and left for Vegas. That was nearly 4 years ago. Vegas is not for everyone, so I do not fault you for not liking it. However, I do fault you for staying and complaining about it.

Of course! That's my duty as a wife. He also knows how I feel about it here as he feels the same. This is a temp. pit stop for us & as much as we would love to pick up & leave, that is not an option right now. We have 4 children & other family responsibilities that make it necessary for us to have an income. We're not being greedy or putting money above our values as some have accused me of. It is a fact that for right now, this is the best option for us professionally.

I know it won't be forever & that is what makes it bearable.

BTW, thanks for the tip on starting up a group on Meetup.com. Based upon the number of pm's that I have received that are in agreement with me, I think we've got a decent sized crowd already!

I seriously laugh at people like you. You have 4 kids, therefore you should have never even considered moving to Las Vegas. It is sin city for God's sakes. My best friend in Arizona has 4 kids too, and he knows this is not the right place to raise a family. It only takes common sense to realize this BEFORE you move to the adult playground known as Vegas.

Well, I sincerely wish you and your family the best. Maybe making some like-minded friends will actually open you up to activities and events that changes your perspective.

Vegas may be tougher than other places, but a city of this size with all it has to offer is always what you make of it. But of course there are always people who are only content to complain about things and some people simply don't transition well many places they would go.

Clearly this doesn't apply to you, but it's been said many times that people come to Vegas with these illusions and dreams of what the city is end-up sorely disappointed that their life here stinks, too, which really says more about them than the city.
