Oh yea, give me a 100+ dry heat anyday over hot and humid. We were in Vegas last July and it was hot. (I remember there were some fantastic thunder and lightening storms at the time.) Then we went on to Boston for 7 days, during their heat and humidity wave....I don't remember the exact %, but it was awful. It was like walking through thick liquid air.....yuck.

(This was my trip to see where I wanted to live when I return to the US, and weatherwise between east & west coast, West won hands down.)

There are actually people who don't perspire for some reason, so they probably would feel better in a humid climate. But I had sinus headaches, every day of my life due to the humidity back east until I came to Nevada. Haven't really had one since, except when I visit back home in the summer. Whenever I went down south to the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, where it is really humid it was worse. Even Washington, DC is unbearable in summer. Also I was always soaked in sweat back east even when it wasn't all that warm. We considered 75º hot in the east. Here in the desert that is almost chilly. 80º in the desert is perfect, and 85º is still very pleasant. 90º and above you know it's hot but you won't be extremely uncomfortable as you would be at 80º in a humid climate. Unless you are working or exercising you don't feel any perspiration which is what makes you miserable in humidity. In my yoot I had no problem doing my yard work or even jogging in Las Vegas during the hottest part of the day in July or August. But as I said in another thread, the heat is different now and is not as comfortable for some reason. So you newbies won't know what it should feel like in the desert unless you get out of town. It still beats humidity though.

Buzz.....so if I think a DC summer ain't bad I guess Vegas won't be either.


Global warming I guess....summers are getting hotter all over the world, including here in Maryland too. yes it's a concern globally but for Vegas its weird cause more subdivisons means more trees planted in the desert which should make it less hot with the green absorbing some of the heat.
