For the same reason you would want to carry a gun anywhere else. To protect yourself in the event that a bad guy shows up with a gun.

Thanks for your opinion, but you sound like one of those anti-gun folks that has no clue about people who carry legally. I suggest you educate yourself a bit before offering your opinion on this subject in the future - you'll likely save yourself some embarrassment, or at least you'll have fewer people thinking that you're an ignorant person who's fearful of an inanimate object.

As for the bold, red question:

Again, a little education can go a long way.

I've been in all of the resort casinos here, and quite a few of the local/off-strip places, and NONE have it posted that you can't carry.

As to carrying in casinos, banks, or any other private business. It is legal to carry in said businesses, as long as the owners allow it. Which means many casinos would prefer that you not carry in their casinos. To alert people that this is their policy, they are required, by law, to post notices on their entrances that ccw is not allowed in their casinos. If they do not post (and I have not seen many postings in casinos) then people can carry in said casinos.

All that said, any casino can ask you to leave for any reason and carrying a handgun is one of those reasons. Remember, it is only illegal to carry in these places if they are posted no firearms. Trespassing laws apply if you are asked to leave and refuse if someone comes up to you and says, "Well, we don't have any signs, but we don't want anyone carrying in our casino."

Hope that clarifies the subject.

Everyone wants to be Clint Eastwood waiting to save the day but nobody pays attention when they got their piece of paper confirming they are competent.

Unless they've been through three months of boot camp at Parris Island or Pendleton, followed by three months of ITR (Infantry Training Regiment), then I don't feel they are competent. I know all the arguments for and against guns. And I think everyone should be trained in the proper use and care of firearms once they reach the age of about ten years old. But I still have this problem. Give a guy a gun and he'll find a reason to use it. Getting a little airy-fairy now, but if you are in a situation where you need to shoot someone, did they find you, or did you find them? Don't like the term self fulfilling prophecy, but most people kind of understand that. When I come up with the answer I'll probably stop putting off getting a CCW.

Spoken like someone who truly doesn't understand the laws and just how convoluted they get particularly for those that are licensed/permitted to carry in many different states, not to mention the fact that laws change from time to time.

Give the guy a break, perhaps a more reasonable answer would be to recommend he call the place he took his training with and ask the question or call the police department and ask.

If you don't know the answer to the question or don't have any helpful input then you're not responsible enough to post on the forum.

This is all true and even in the circumstances where it is posted "no guns allowed" (except govt buildings, schools, and other areas specifically outlined in NRS), it is still not a crime nor illegal to carry your gun with a valid CCW. Only if they were to ask you to leave (for any reason, including having a firearm), then you could be arrested for trespassing, only if you did not comply. If you're carrying correctly and not printing (showing the outline of the firearm under clothing, etc.) then I don't see how this would ever even come into play.

There is no NRS that says it's illegal for a CCW holder to carry a gun on private property even when there is a sign stating no guns allowed.
