Does anyone know if it a good time to go to Mt. Charleston (safety as well as snow fun). From my apartment (Summerlin) I can see snow on the mountains. But I am slightly reluctant to stray to the mountains given all I have is a '95 Camry and no special equipments. It is my first year in Vegas so I apologize if the question is too silly. Having moved from Houston I do love to see snow (a rare thing there). Any advice will be helpful.

Thanks

Airics is right. Don't go to Mt. Charleston while it is snowing. You can ski and play in snow up there from Thanksgiving to a few weeks after Easter, so there's no rush. It's not going to go away. As soon as this storm passes there will be six feet of snow up there. Wait until the roads have been cleared.

It used to be a lot more fun to visit the Mountain. Now there's a lot more competition for fun sledding spots and there's a lot more litter and trash.

Its easy to slip and slide up there during and directly after a snow. Wait until the weather clears.

there is usually a road report that will tell you that if you go there you should have chains or a 4x4.
So check the road report for Mt.Charleston before you head out.
