Most of the area around the New VA hopital isn't very old they were built 5 to 6 years ago.
There is a age retricted communty close by if that interest you it's beautiful with pool jaquzzi, gym game room and bocci court. and walking trails.

There are the regular neighborhoods as well what are you thinking?

Default VA hospital

It would just be my husband and I - no need to know about schools, etc. I am wondering about some of the communities around there, such as Aliante, Summerlin, Iron Mountain Ranch, etc. Any info would be helpful - thanks!

Aliante, 89084 will put you really close as well. It's just a short ride down the beltway.

Aliante is really beautiful and clean and just a shoot down the (I think 215) will put you right at the new VA. We're building just south of there and it's close for us also. But I love Aliante and it's ammenities-Aliante Station casino/hotel w/restaraunts, IMAX Regal movie theater etc. right there close to home.
